While I agree with some of what you are saying, there is a big difference between paying extra for DLC maps/useless micro transactions and cutting the core game into pieces and then selling it as DLC. This is the equivalent of a game like The Walking Dead selling each episode as though it is a complete game in itself. For $70 you should be entitled to a little more than a fraction of the core game.

  • Some of those useless micro transactions are not useless. The whole reason the phone market is a multi-billion market is due to small micro transactions for extra lives or power ups. Games with pay to win mechanics could also be cited. The only difference between these destiny dlc, which come with a 3 maps (only one less than call of duty) and pve content, and any other game is that these might be on the disc already, which has already been done and millions have already paid for, which just further proves my point.

  • I'm referring to the fact that the story that we received as part of the game is a fraction of the story to be told. We received a very small piece of the story and will only be able to get story through purchasing DLC by the sounds of it.

If Bungie comes out with DLCs that really don't tell much of the story, then what? Is it because they are saving it for the sequel to Destiny? Is it because they ran out of time? Is it because they suck at writing? Who knows, except for Bungie, what is complete and what is core? And, it's unlikely that they are not going to spoil the surprise (if there even is one.)

  • There will be a surprise. Bungie knows how to tell a story. They've just never had to do it like this. Telling a story with an "mmo-like" world is alot harder than doing it the way it was done in Halo. In Halo, there's no limits to the kind of story you can tell because you can go anywhere and do anything you want to do and break them into levels, but in Destiny, they have to tell the story in the "mmo-like" world they've created. Basically, you make one big level and then put the stories into it.They've talked about this before the game released as being a challenge in their GDC press conference back in March 2013. Bungie felt this game in its current state was enough to be called a full release, and I agree. I have plenty to do. I would rather be in this world than in BF4 or in COD. There's more attachment to a character. You can actually build a character, your armor choices have meaning, you have talent choices, and ALL THESE choices effect crucible as well, and then you can see each other's characters in an actual game world! Battlefield feels so limited to me now. And I know this game has so much lore. I feel the reason they made the grimoire the way they did wasn't to cut it out of the game and just throw it online, but to let everyone know after the initial launch, don't worry, we have more of a story to tell and here's a glimpse. MMOs work this way. They don't just give you the entire story up front and then move onto the next game project. They have multiple stories to tell. It's like World of Warcraft or Star Wars.
