As far as I can tell, (based on the above youtube videos), certain areas may be locked until released to us for an event. The Vault of Glass on Venus, for example. I spotted something elsewhere from a game developer that said upon hitting level 30 and completing the story, other areas open up to you (Needs confirmed, I'm not 100% certain about this). As far as locations that say "Locked: Requires DLC 2 (or whatever it said)", those very well could be place holders. If a map for the moon was already designed, would it not make sense to include known future locations in the programming? DLC and expansions are usually underway before a game is ever released. Sure developers could produce DLC ahead of time and include it, but that means an even farther away release date. Ideas for DLC may come too late in the process sometimes to be able to include it in the game at launch due to time restrictions. I'm sure it's easier to make a mission selection button visible or invisible on a map as opposed to adding it in after the map has been designed. Honestly, the only thing that has struck me odd was the back of the case for Destiny. I got my copy for Xbox 360, and it said that my HDD needed about 20GB free for download. I cleared room on my hard drive, but after download only filled up about 5 GB of that. The other 15GB could be the amount of room anticipated for the downloading of all future content, but that's my only guess as of so far.
