You've played for 84 hours, are you trying to tell me that you didn't get any value for your money? Less whining on these forums would be great!

  • You know, this kind of reply is everywhere. I've played a lot, 70-80 hours i'm guessing. I've enjoyed it mostly. But for a game that's supposed to create a loyal following for a decade, I'm getting pretty bored with it. It's not an issue of getting one's money's worth. I don't feel ripped off. But I do feel disappointed because it could have been much, much more. And I'm bored. I think a lot of people would pay even more for the base game and DLC, or even a subscription, if the game were rich in content. People just want a reason to keep playing and for potential to be realized, but it's simply not there.

  • Expectations are a razors edge. Also, game production is not a simple or straight forward endeavour. It's not a trivial task to create more content, but it's worth noting that much of the point of the endeavour that is Destiny is to release content regularly. As of now the production schedule is every three months, which is a very ambitious schedule. I fear asking or expecting more from Bungie is a bit harsh, and bordering on ignorant. Though I know you don't mean to be. Game production and the realities therein seem like a black box to us, the laymen.

Yeah, very true. Now, if they take their $60 or even the £90 I spent on the Limited Edition, divide that by the 84 hours and compare that to the amount of money you would spend on a night out and divide it by the number of hours you were out for, I'm very confident you will find that Destiny is very good value for money in terms of cost per hour of entertainment! But of course, we seem to have a lot of people wanting everything for nothing (or very little these days). Do they complain after buying season one of a TV series that they don't know what happens at the very end of season 10? And why can't I watch seasons 2-10 now, I've finished watching season 1. It seems like a mixrure of being impatient and spoilt, used to getting what they want when they want it. Personally, I'm just enjoying going out there looking for new gear and finding I'm really enjoying the variety between PvE & PvP. Really liked Salvage and kept 3 27-29 level Guardians ammused when my 2 other team members dropped out of a Skirmish.... I had to work real hard just to get 6 kills..... I was the rabbit they had to hunt down, which they did really well of course!!

  • This felt more like I paid for season 1 and got the pilot episode. It was a good introduction but where is the meat of the story because it is so very short and lacking. There is cool lore but it's not in the game it's on this website in the Grimoire.

The thing is, if it finished now I would agree but no one knows that it has finished. So far we've had the VoG, The Reef limited time events with the promise of other events etc coming out over the next few months. If we see new content and events being released over time in addition to any new Expansions then I don't see the problem. What we are seeing is a lot of people worrying/complaining/stressing about something without knowing how things will pan out. It's only been a 3weeks or so since it was released. I think we have to sit back and wait and see what happens rather than worrying about predictions based on everyones own thoughts. I'd rather play and enjoy the game and leave the management/development of the game to Bungie.... that's their job. If, by the time the expansion comes and there was nothing new, then that's the time to kick up a fuss otherwise, a lot of people could be wasting their time stressing. Ultimately, it's better to enjoy what we have now rather than worry about what we don't have.

  • Amen. All these little kids playing their first video game ever. I am embarrassed for the future of gaming.

  • Actually I've been playing games for many years and I agree with the OP. If you look at the E3 videos you can see what this game could've and should've been. But for whatever reason it was gutted and rearranged. Now we get this limited content that, while its good, could've been great. Face the facts; we bought have a game. There's major parts of the story and gameplay missing and they're patching things that should've been fixed before the launch. They -blam!-ed up.

  • Thank you Jack. I've been gaming since the Atari 2600 or Commodore 64 days and the sheer amount of whiny entitled children these days is staggering. You're absolutely correct, it's embarrassing.

  • Ahhhh..... the Commodore 64. Those were the days :-) When you could type in the programme before playing it! Remember the floppy disk drive for them and the 30-40 minutes to wait for a game to load from the cassette. No one complained, just sat around with a tinge of excitement waiting to play Manic Miner... oh shit, how things have changed!!
