Destiny is a FREE TO PLAY mmo. So there's really two options here.
Option #1: Pay a monthly subscription (of around $15) to play the game.
Option #2: Fork out cash for each new bit of content as it is released.
Guild Wars pretty much does this so I don't know why you're all so shocked.

Guild Wars 2 didn't start off as a half-assed game with a lack of content

Whoa there salty boy, DO NOT compare this game with Guild Wars 2. Dynamic bosses and world events, MASSIVE sprawling areas rich with lore from the npc's who have character (wendigo chasing rabbit herder's to Giant shadow swamp monster fighting). You can easily get 80+ hours just exploring stuff and doing one of 4 racial variants on one of three faction stories, and get this the dungeons actually add story to the main story line! Oh whats that? I can't hear you over how while the game has a cash shop you can easily play through the entirety of the game and enjoy every bit of epic fantasy fighting that the game shows off. Short note, there's a way to do a $60 full retail ftp afterwards game and there's a way not to. Destiny while mechanically and artistically sound, suffers from a crippling failure to embed its players into a forlorn one of few guardians of the last city of humanity and its allies (which technically isn't true due to the asteroid belt grimoire). The end game content for GW2 is ridiculous and amazing (They recently set up FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE story events that completely altered main areas). Its story mode is epic and is only matched by its end game content and massive pvp segments (while awesome with siege mechanics, it could use a little work. You tend to get stampeded by large groups of stampeding enemy players). Dont open your trap when you speak out of ignorance.

Says the person who can't spell "inferior." LOL!
-
More like my auto correct can't spell but okay. I was also talking about his claim about destiny which is the equivalent thinking of a 2 year old.

Edited by Sorhx: 9/29/2014 6:26:51 AMFor everyone that's giving him shiit for saying destiny is a free to play mmo . Yes destiny isent a mmo but a free to play mmo dosent mean you get the game for free it means you can play it online for free like Defiance that's a f2p mmo but I paid 60? So stfu :)
-
Good point actually.... Hmmmm
-
This isn't an MMO. The player cap is a fraction of even early MMO capacities, and Bungie merely adopted MMO terminology to artificially make the play space and content seem grander and inherently different from other shooters. As it stands, Destiny is a slightly larger scale Borderlands successor than it is, in any serious notion, an MMO.
-
Really? Could of sworn I paid £60.
-
Next time make sure to look at others stores, since you got ripped off by about 25 pounds.
-
I bought that digital version on xbox 360 and got the Xbox one version for free. Next time, don't think you're smart.
-
Then stop whining about how you paid 60 pounds for it.
-
... Nobody is whining. I'm clearly stating that the game is NOT free. Next smart attempt pallleaseeee?
-
I just said you got ripped off, I didn't say it was free.
-
£49.99 actually. Not bad for two games. :)
-
Two games for £60? I don't feel ripped off. It's actually a better deal than buying it from the store.
-
Same got the PS3 then ps4 :)
-
Lol... free to play From what I remember I paid 60 dollars... so break that down into 15 a month... 4 months... Add in the 35 for 2 DL another 2 months... DLC come out in December (3 mo the from now) and again a few short months after... roughly translating to 6 MONTHS... you sir have just been owned :)
-
lol you're so stupid, this is not a -blam!-ing MMO, bungie even says it themselves. There is barely even a fraction of MMO, and GW2 by itself is so -blam!-ing rich with shit to do in itself alone, that can -blam!-ing warrant me buying DLC, and thats dlc thats actually new, not -blam!-ing paywalls in destiny.
-
Then ffs go play Guild Wars 2 and shut up about it already.
-
Exactly what ive been thinking, most mmos cost the 60 or more plus 15 a month so everyone bitching about this cut content is -blam!-ing moronic
