Proof that Bungie cut content

So, information about cut content have been leaked and users on Neogaf have posted this. http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=903125 Apperently a persons game glitched and allowed him to see all the content as locked, including the content we're not "allowed" to see yet. Like the DLC missions, Strikes and Raids. I quote:
The first DLC will include 4-5 missions, 2 strikes(one on earth, one on Mars), 1 raid(on Moon) and 3 crucible maps. Second DLC there is less details but I assume again 4-5 missions, 2 strikes, and 1 raid(which takes place in the reef)
Where all of this is on disc but have to be unlocked by buying the Season Pass/DLC. So, there you have your proof. Bungie have cut content from the game and locked it for us to make us buy their Season Pass. In my opinion that is a very cheap move. Opinions/Further discussions? Please bump this thread as much as you can to spread the truth. Edit: Further proof that most of the DLC is already on Disc. (From Neogaf)
Originally Posted by HykCraft Sorry if this was already posted... but here you go: Expansion II is only 9.5 MB https://store.xbox.com/en-us/Xbox-One/Dlc/Destiny-Expansion-II-House-of-Wolves/2af987e3-ba25-4d1b-82cb-1fbe02e2ea07
Link is working again Picture of it if it would go down again: http://i.imgur.com/mOMpeif.png Edit2: KICHZY posted a interesting video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4PBunIaaPsM
Edit3: To the people defending this. How are you okay with this kind of stuff? Content being on the disc that you bought but can't use because they will sell it to you again in the Expansion Pass. This content should/already is in the game but is locked. Edit4: People saying we're jumping to conclusions, that these areas are not even close to being finished and all that. Thing is. Since the areas are already there(some with enemies) they could have easily have included them in the game. These areas were already in as far back as the alpha. Which means they had plenty of time to actually finish it all. (If they aren't already finished and Bungie are just waiting to release the rest of it to the people with the expansion pass) These missions and areas should/could have been in the final game but were most likely cut to be sold later as DLC. The areas already in the game proves this by showing us areas that are locked where they probably later only will unlock the missions for those areas. As stated in Edit1 "Expansion II is only 9.5 MB" which most likely is just a "key" to unlock the on disc "DLC". Looking at the lack of content Destiny have right now it could have used this content on release instead. Edit5: Seeing that this thread now have about 380 replies(and still going) where the majority are either upset or angry at Bungie for doing this thing, maybe Bungie should address this in an official blog post and update us on how it actually is. Is this DLC content on disc which needs a bought "key" aka expansion pass or will this later be released for free like the Iron banner and Queen's Wrath events? Bungie, take a look at your fanbase/community, more than half of them are disappointed in the way you're doing business with Destiny. Edit6: A reddit post going over everything that changed with Destiny over the last year: http://www.reddit.com/r/DestinyTheGame/comments/2hqmkb/how_destinys_content_completely_changed_over_the Same post but on Bungie.net: http://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/70822032/0/0 It goes through everything that was in the game before release but later on got taken out for DLC or removed completely. Edit7: The Xbox Expansion Pass link is up again: https://store.xbox.com/en-us/Xbox-One/Dlc/Destiny-Expansion-II-House-of-Wolves/2af987e3-ba25-4d1b-82cb-1fbe02e2ea07 9.5MB I have a picture too: http://i.imgur.com/mOMpeif.png Edit8: lavaman2302 posted a link to the ps store showing us the same explansion.
Also check this out https://store.sonyentertainmentnetwork.com/#!/en-us/games/addons/destiny-expansion-i-the-dark-below/cid=UP0002-BLUS31181_00-DESTINYEXPNPACK1?emcid=ps-ga-872&utm_medium=Paid_Search_{ps}&utm_campaign=Games&utm_source=Google&utm_term=ps-ga-872&utm_content=Brand
Pictures of it: http://i.imgur.com/OrfdFdA.png http://i.imgur.com/MmbxruY.png It says 6.9 MB on there. Also a very small download. Most likely a "key". They promise us "New Story and Cooperative Areas to explore" but we all know those areas aren't actually new lol Plenty of people have already been in them. Edit9: Quote from Neogaf worth reading:

I highly doubt the devs just cut complete shit out to sell later.
And that's probably what they want you to think. You'd be surprised what kind of crap they'd spin. Cutting content out of a game and then randomly blasting it into the market in pieces as DLC is profitable, so they'll do it. It's easy for them. We have no evidence to suggest they aren't doing this. I'm much more inclined to say this is exactly what they're doing based on what we're seeing. Thank god I didn't buy into this game. Pulled out last year when i realised what they were saying and what they were showing just didn't match. The $500m gave me a good laugh though. What a waste. But hats down to Activision, it all worked perfectly. Expect other companies to follow this trend. The future is bright!
Edit10: wazzanut wrote a reply worth reading:
Its like paying to get into Disneyland and then being told you have to pay extra to ride the best rides. People who dont complain about this place less value in money and self respect. I like the idea of releasing content over time to help keep things fresh but theres hardly a main body to this game, it feels like an empty introduction to an empty world. Its like halo leftovers and its starting to smell funny... Repeating missions over and over should be proof enough to the lack of content, its been a while since i felt a little screwed over by a game.
Edit11: Another area have been found, now by Nowise10: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xtf3NlYhB_U As you can see it is everything is done in this one as well. All Bungie have to do is release the mission files and that's the DLC for ya. Note that Nowise10 states that this is the 2015 DLC mission. I mean, a 2015 DLC that already exist in the game. That is pure cheapness. Edit12: So, the area Nowise10 found a way into have been in the game for quite some time. This is a screenshot from a trailer released on E3 this year in June. http://i.imgur.com/4zFs3HH.png Would you look at that? http://youtu.be/hRRKtkuOeig?t=1m32s So this area have been in there since atleast E3... Edit13: Another finished looking DLC area on disc have been found: http://teambeyond.net/destiny-dlc-area-uncovered-mars/ http://youtu.be/fY_KKYQG22c Now a strike in the Black Garden area. As you can see it is a big area where you can't go because of this big energy wall, but with a sparrow you can go through it and enter the DLC area. Edit14: Another DLC area found by Corbman. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AgoPfuphQvw This is the Traitor's Ketch mission in the 2015 DLC. Is you can see, everything is working as it should, it just needs enemies. Edit15: Once again, a new DLC area found by Corbman. http://youtu.be/BtFey3eEzfk This is the area for the raid on the moon. Confirming that this also is on disc and only needs enemies to be added. I know no one cares anymore so I will probably stop updating this now. Since, I don't really care anymore myself. I've given up on Destiny and will move on to better games.

  • You're a moron. Every game has DLC's. Its not cut content, its consumer/producer marketing. Producer wants you, the consumer, to continuously pay them money so they can get rich, every company worldwide does it, aside from non-profit. It's not cut content, For what, 38$ which is minimal compared to bills you pay monthly, 38$ for hours, days, of content, is a good deal. Look at the Fallout Franchise, each game has a good 4 DLC's which add missions, items, etc. Look at any F2P mmo, most have an ingame store with real world cash. You pay them money, they reward you with content. Why should Bungie be any different? Bungie particularly is a money grabbing company, but a respected one nonetheless. Lastly, they claimed this series will last ten years. Well they have to keep you interested for that long don't they? So they release content for you to purchase every so often to keep you with them. Who gives if its 20$ a dlc, or 60$ a new game, that's really cheap when you make even minimum wage. Don't hate on Bungie because they're trying to make money. They have a full team of people just like you and me, trying to feed a family and pay the bills.

  • I would of preferred the original story this weak sauce I got was sad. I feel bad for drinking the kol-aid so to speak. I got all my friends on board with this game and it didn't bring what it promised. I just finished watching video of people accessing areas that are mentioned in the up coming dlc. Its clear when you look around on any of the planets that clearly certain areas were meant to lead into other content. And people are figuring out how to get to them and show that the maps are already there. One stage already has fallen to fight and an end boss. I trusted Bungie because they didn't fail to deliver with each of the Halo games. They built in so much story into the game. Destiny didn't have any of that. I have to read cards to get more of a story as appose to in Halo the story was actually in the game. Thanks to this game I will no longer buy a game at release. I will have to wait to hear reviews and see if its a full game or one that is trying to pull the stunt this one is. Also my trust in Bungie is dead now. Its too late for me now not to buy the two dlc packs, but clearly after that Bungie will no longer get any more money out of me.

  • how about Bungie is locking the content until it's ready, or did you not notice how they've slowly trickled content in since launch and ERMAHGERD contents on the disc but I can't use it.... you do realize you still only payed 60 bucks for the game, and the DLC is just going to be used to unlock the content Gears of War did the same thing. It's done so that it translates to slower download times later and less space taken up on the memory, also most DLC content are not finished until just before the first one launches, them being on the dist does not make it any more finished it just means the trigger for said content is there but locked to prevent early access until it's ready.

  • Oooor Bungie had a deadline to meet and couldn't get an extension, so they gave us what they could and are still working on the parts that aren't finished yet. You know... just throwing ideas out there.

Stop whining already! 95% of us agree that an awesome game has been released. Period. We are enjoying it to the fullest extent our lives will allow. To the 5% that simply will not shut the hell up crying about the game, GO PLAY TITANFALL or COD IF YOU HATE DESTINY SO MUCH!!! We are tired of your nit-picking and crying because you aren't satisfied that your Guardian isn't jumping high enough, or that you are pissed because you truly believe exploiting a 6 sec. respawn glitch and shooting into a cave for hours on end is a legit means to get legendary gear! Enough already. That is all.

            • The dlcs give other things besides just those mission areas, such as weapons and gear. And that map doesn't prove shit except bungie had already planned for the expansions prior to launch. Jk Rowling had the main plots for all 7 of the Harry potter books before she wrote the first one, but you wouldn't say she cut content from the first, just because she already knew where the story would go next, would you?

            • You say it is cut as though it was stated that it would be available upon release. Just because it is there does not mean it was cut from the game. It means it has the coding in to have those missions and such, but no telling if there is actually anything inside them even. And even if there was anything in it, who knows how properly it is working. They have already given info on the first expansion prior to release, which means they had already started in the development and possibly had it completed. They have all right to hold off on opening things if they wish, no one paid on an agreement to have every bit of the game open when they started playing. You paid for the game as it was, and that is what you get. Stop complaining about every little thing ffs. If you think it unfair, go elsewhere. Every game that comes out these days have stuff on disc that you can't access. It is just the way of the gaming industry.

              • Yea you really have no idea how mmo content works. Usually in small patches they will add little things like the map locations with each patch, usually the stuff that has to be interweaved into whats already there, usually menus and ui stuff (which is what is present in the video) but just have it set to not show yet . Then they add the expansion content such as new areas, items, ect when its close to the release date or on the release date, even if you dont have the expansion pass you will still get the massive update as you will still need the files to see other players with the new gear. The reason why the pass is only like 9mb is because thats just to unlock the the expansion which will come in the update patch. Not on the disc. Its common for mmos to do it like this.

              • Or maybe, and I know this is crazy, maybe they put as much in as they could for launch to make working on content in the future easier. I know it's absolutely insane to think that they may have had teams making future content at the same time as the base game. I know that thinking they would want to expedite releases is just silly, because that would require them to care about their customers AND making money. I suppose that wouldn't make a lick of sense for a company that relies so much on positive customer perception. And as they obviously know less about making games than you or the thousands of other calling established assets 'cut content', they should never dare to handle multiple tasks at once again. "Here, here!" to prolonged releases, and DLC releasing many months or even years after a game!

                • These extra areas being locked is no different than the area in the tower, where the Queens emissary is, being locked from time to time. Does the area exist, sure it does, but there isn't always content to be used in that area, so it gets locked. My guess is bungie made the locked areas knowing they would add content to those areas later. For those upset by this, just think of the fact that the game could've been released with that content, but it would've delayed launch by six months. Destiny is not the first game to have locked areas, which were made in prep for expansion content.

Quick everyone grab your tin-foil hats! I would say you make a compelling argument however, it has a few holes. First off I can't seem to find your Xbox link (it takes me to a dead page). Second, I would like to note that an unlock code is usually about 100+kb not 10MB which points to the assets being on disc but not the mission. This is an archaic method to make an MMO but it used to be normal not even a console generation ago to have assets prepackaged then tossed together then pushed as DLC (PSO,FF11 or PSO2 anyone?). I just think it is a little to quick to jump to conclusions. But now that everyone has there pitchforks at hand it is only a matter of time before the fog clears up. Edited for easy reading Edit 2: see original post was updated to add a Xbox store page. Still dose not change my plee for sanity however.

                    • Just like any book from a series, hooks are implemented to allow the story to go forward in the next book. Simple. The fact Bungie implemented the hooks for elements they know will be released at a certain point in the future is no different. Besides that it also reduces the download sizes of DLC, since they can now avoid you having to download new versions of core parts such as the map and the geometry used to enter new areas (hooks). If you want to whine about not enough content being offered upon initial release at least have the balls to be upfront about it. These findings are like finding a mare's nest.

                      • You do realize all games are complete with the initial content but are not released due to them debugging and fixing things...hell if you had a code from GameStop/ebgames you would get the red sparrow which is on the disc but not unlockable without that code. A lot of companies do this and can alter the initial content while still having it on the disc. Anyways it happens oh well get over it and wait for DLC

It was never intended to be part of the initial release. It takes time to develop game content. Did you seriously think that Bungie finished Destiny and then stopped working on new content until after the game was released? And do you seriously expect that just because additional content other than what was provided with the initial release was produced that you deserve immediately and for free? You got the game you paid for. Constant complaining that it wasn't what you wanted or that you were expecting more doesn't change that fact. Bungie didn't lie to you. Bungie didn't withhold content that you paid for. Bungie isn't trying to cheat you out of your money.
