Proof that Bungie cut content

So, information about cut content have been leaked and users on Neogaf have posted this. http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=903125 Apperently a persons game glitched and allowed him to see all the content as locked, including the content we're not "allowed" to see yet. Like the DLC missions, Strikes and Raids. I quote:
The first DLC will include 4-5 missions, 2 strikes(one on earth, one on Mars), 1 raid(on Moon) and 3 crucible maps. Second DLC there is less details but I assume again 4-5 missions, 2 strikes, and 1 raid(which takes place in the reef)
Where all of this is on disc but have to be unlocked by buying the Season Pass/DLC. So, there you have your proof. Bungie have cut content from the game and locked it for us to make us buy their Season Pass. In my opinion that is a very cheap move. Opinions/Further discussions? Please bump this thread as much as you can to spread the truth. Edit: Further proof that most of the DLC is already on Disc. (From Neogaf)
Originally Posted by HykCraft Sorry if this was already posted... but here you go: Expansion II is only 9.5 MB https://store.xbox.com/en-us/Xbox-One/Dlc/Destiny-Expansion-II-House-of-Wolves/2af987e3-ba25-4d1b-82cb-1fbe02e2ea07
Link is working again Picture of it if it would go down again: http://i.imgur.com/mOMpeif.png Edit2: KICHZY posted a interesting video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4PBunIaaPsM
Edit3: To the people defending this. How are you okay with this kind of stuff? Content being on the disc that you bought but can't use because they will sell it to you again in the Expansion Pass. This content should/already is in the game but is locked. Edit4: People saying we're jumping to conclusions, that these areas are not even close to being finished and all that. Thing is. Since the areas are already there(some with enemies) they could have easily have included them in the game. These areas were already in as far back as the alpha. Which means they had plenty of time to actually finish it all. (If they aren't already finished and Bungie are just waiting to release the rest of it to the people with the expansion pass) These missions and areas should/could have been in the final game but were most likely cut to be sold later as DLC. The areas already in the game proves this by showing us areas that are locked where they probably later only will unlock the missions for those areas. As stated in Edit1 "Expansion II is only 9.5 MB" which most likely is just a "key" to unlock the on disc "DLC". Looking at the lack of content Destiny have right now it could have used this content on release instead. Edit5: Seeing that this thread now have about 380 replies(and still going) where the majority are either upset or angry at Bungie for doing this thing, maybe Bungie should address this in an official blog post and update us on how it actually is. Is this DLC content on disc which needs a bought "key" aka expansion pass or will this later be released for free like the Iron banner and Queen's Wrath events? Bungie, take a look at your fanbase/community, more than half of them are disappointed in the way you're doing business with Destiny. Edit6: A reddit post going over everything that changed with Destiny over the last year: http://www.reddit.com/r/DestinyTheGame/comments/2hqmkb/how_destinys_content_completely_changed_over_the Same post but on Bungie.net: http://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/70822032/0/0 It goes through everything that was in the game before release but later on got taken out for DLC or removed completely. Edit7: The Xbox Expansion Pass link is up again: https://store.xbox.com/en-us/Xbox-One/Dlc/Destiny-Expansion-II-House-of-Wolves/2af987e3-ba25-4d1b-82cb-1fbe02e2ea07 9.5MB I have a picture too: http://i.imgur.com/mOMpeif.png Edit8: lavaman2302 posted a link to the ps store showing us the same explansion.
Also check this out https://store.sonyentertainmentnetwork.com/#!/en-us/games/addons/destiny-expansion-i-the-dark-below/cid=UP0002-BLUS31181_00-DESTINYEXPNPACK1?emcid=ps-ga-872&utm_medium=Paid_Search_{ps}&utm_campaign=Games&utm_source=Google&utm_term=ps-ga-872&utm_content=Brand
Pictures of it: http://i.imgur.com/OrfdFdA.png http://i.imgur.com/MmbxruY.png It says 6.9 MB on there. Also a very small download. Most likely a "key". They promise us "New Story and Cooperative Areas to explore" but we all know those areas aren't actually new lol Plenty of people have already been in them. Edit9: Quote from Neogaf worth reading:

I highly doubt the devs just cut complete shit out to sell later.
And that's probably what they want you to think. You'd be surprised what kind of crap they'd spin. Cutting content out of a game and then randomly blasting it into the market in pieces as DLC is profitable, so they'll do it. It's easy for them. We have no evidence to suggest they aren't doing this. I'm much more inclined to say this is exactly what they're doing based on what we're seeing. Thank god I didn't buy into this game. Pulled out last year when i realised what they were saying and what they were showing just didn't match. The $500m gave me a good laugh though. What a waste. But hats down to Activision, it all worked perfectly. Expect other companies to follow this trend. The future is bright!
Edit10: wazzanut wrote a reply worth reading:
Its like paying to get into Disneyland and then being told you have to pay extra to ride the best rides. People who dont complain about this place less value in money and self respect. I like the idea of releasing content over time to help keep things fresh but theres hardly a main body to this game, it feels like an empty introduction to an empty world. Its like halo leftovers and its starting to smell funny... Repeating missions over and over should be proof enough to the lack of content, its been a while since i felt a little screwed over by a game.
Edit11: Another area have been found, now by Nowise10: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xtf3NlYhB_U As you can see it is everything is done in this one as well. All Bungie have to do is release the mission files and that's the DLC for ya. Note that Nowise10 states that this is the 2015 DLC mission. I mean, a 2015 DLC that already exist in the game. That is pure cheapness. Edit12: So, the area Nowise10 found a way into have been in the game for quite some time. This is a screenshot from a trailer released on E3 this year in June. http://i.imgur.com/4zFs3HH.png Would you look at that? http://youtu.be/hRRKtkuOeig?t=1m32s So this area have been in there since atleast E3... Edit13: Another finished looking DLC area on disc have been found: http://teambeyond.net/destiny-dlc-area-uncovered-mars/ http://youtu.be/fY_KKYQG22c Now a strike in the Black Garden area. As you can see it is a big area where you can't go because of this big energy wall, but with a sparrow you can go through it and enter the DLC area. Edit14: Another DLC area found by Corbman. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AgoPfuphQvw This is the Traitor's Ketch mission in the 2015 DLC. Is you can see, everything is working as it should, it just needs enemies. Edit15: Once again, a new DLC area found by Corbman. http://youtu.be/BtFey3eEzfk This is the area for the raid on the moon. Confirming that this also is on disc and only needs enemies to be added. I know no one cares anymore so I will probably stop updating this now. Since, I don't really care anymore myself. I've given up on Destiny and will move on to better games.

I'm pretty sure that 6.9mb it's a placeholder, since the expansion isn't even close to out, no one knows what the DLC file size is. And if, layer on down the road, you turn out to be right, don't blame bungie, blame Activision.

    • DLC itself is such bullshit, and for the last decade or so it's really gotten out of hand. Remember when you bought a game and got the entire thing? MAYBE you got an "expansion", circa Diablo 2 Lord of Destruction-esque. DLC in a nutshell: "Here is 75% of your game, that'll be $59.99. For $35 more, you can have the last 25% of your game in a month."

The problem isn't the locked area content. They'll still drop the same loot. Destiny as it is would be awesome if they changed a few simple thing about how the loot system worked. the problem is so many things offer the exact same rewards it makes all the content the exact same once you've played it once. without a decent loot system it doesn't matter for shit how much content there is. great 4-5 new missions, that's an hour tops. 2 strikes? another hour. 1 raid? wont ever get in to them anyway as I dont have friends, so utterly pointless to me. So once I've done that 2 hours worth of new content I'm have 5 new areas to do bounties in and 2 places to get a pathetic level of marks and loot from. the same loot I can get everywhere else in the rest of the game. see the actual problem? specific loot should drop in specific places. like Mars for primary legendary weapon engrams. Venus for secondary legendary weapon engrams, Moon for Chest and Helmets and Earth for heavy weapon, gauntlets and feet. At least then you'd have a reason to do specific things. replaying story missions should give loot as well so you actually have a reason to replay missions outside of bounties.

      • Won't be giving bungie anymore money. I had loafty expectations about the game since the very start, but since the bundle was very cheap and i needed a Ps4 for Bloodborne, i decided to get a Ps4 with destiny. Good thing i didn't waste any actual money on the game itself. A mediocre game that has a business structure based solely on marking and shady dlc is not for me.

This is how the industry works nowadays. It has worked like this for at least seven years now, so i'm surprised that this is new to you. You don't just pay for everything on the disc anymore, you pay for parts of the information on the disc and some of the things on the dic are locked. Who cares if they put it on the disc or not, would you rather have them putting the same pre-release 'dlc' in the store for you to download? Would that have been different?

Dont you think that if a game cost 500 Million to make that they should be able to charge a little more for all the content. People pay $60 for a game that costs 1 Million to make and never complain, but then when people have to spend an extra $30 that cost $500 Million and everyone loses their mind. They do have to make some money people. Also they could have also required a monthly fee on top of paying for the game consindering that they are running all the servers so that we can keep playing this game. This is like comparing a Corvette and a Ferrari and complaning that you have to pay more for the Ferrari.

          • Hmmm this is annoying more than anything. I mean, I expected dlc. And dlc doesn't bother me if it's not pay to win or micro transactions. But the evidence seems to strongly point towards cutting content from the main game to sell it later. There's something that just seems wrong about that. The only counter argument i can see to this is that since destiny does not have a subscription model, they need to have on going income between main game releases in order to support the "evolving world of destiny". I guess the extent to which we see this "evolving world" will determine how annoyed I am by this in the end. If anything, this is just another lesson that companies have become very good at fueling the ol hype train. Best to wait to see the finished product before purchasing. I won't be pre ordering Destiny 2, that's for sure

          • I feel like I have to talk down and I hate that but, is this your first video game? So many games do this! Hell Destiny technically already did this to us in the Beta: The Moon had missions showing but we couldn't go to them. Battlefield has you download the DLC as a PATCH and then unlocks (with a very small download) it if you have the season pass or buy it. The Elder Scrolls games typically use the existing terrain to add stuff (which is fine). So you're saying that instead of planning ahead and being ready for the release they should just release the DLC and hope it all turns out well? Quit being paranoid, and stop acting like this game is the devil. As far as FPS goes, this game has a LOT more content already than any other and it's still updating with free stuff (Raids). It takes almost NOTHING for people to jump on the bandwagon of hate, especially if Activision/EA is involved.

            • The part that gets me is the fact that those story missions are well below the level that our characters are now.. This really does look like they were cut out from the retail version at some point. I'm going to delay any purchase of the DLC until I see reviews and the communities feedback. Master Chief Collection here I come!

Make me laugh to see so many kids mad there parents won't buy them a 15 buck Dlc or 30 for both.... A movie is a little more it's 1-3 hours long (price of 1 dlc)...... How long have you played destiny (Shut Up an get a job). I am 100+ hours in so I think I have got my 99 bucks worth an look I still get more content weekly an Dlc, I win. If you can't afford to game then stop altogether you can't be a smoker if your not willing to pay 10 more cents every time price goes up.

                • The reddit link was actually very revealing. Before I bought the game I expected something very epic, really something that will last for a few months at least storywise then another month or two grinding of some sorts Seeing even a glimpse of what the original story could have been and compared to what I played through in the story missions makes me kind of sad.. While I played the story I always felt that a LOT of things are missing I wanted to investigate further, for example find out more about the Rasputin AI, and there were times when jumping from planets made not much sense at all.. I expected content on one planet will be as big as the whole released content all together, which could have been done easily. I, for one will not buy destiny DLCs will probably wait for another year or more before coming back to see the changes.. Currently this game is not Destiny, it is a short movie that I saw and though I like the picture and the sound, the content was not even close to be satisfying..

                  • I don't mind of DLC if they bring something new (content) to a game. BUT I understand your point. DLC should be something the devs are working during/after the release of the game so players can have more content later at some fee (if it's 4h content 15$ is ok). What you are showing to us is that the supposed DLC is already ready and just locked. (which is wrong because it could have been released at same time) It is also possible that these DLC have some interesting stuff. " 4-5 missions, 2 strikes(one on earth, one on Mars), 1 raid(on Moon) and 3 crucible maps" is quite a lot for a simple DLC that will be released in December. It's possible that they are still polishing these things or working on the 2nd/3rd DLC. My point is that it's sad we didn't have the content already done at launch but I prefer having " 4-5 missions, 2 strikes(one on earth, one on Mars), 1 raid(on Moon) and 3 crucible maps" in a DLC than just 1 mission and 1 strike because they don't have time to do more in 3 months or have to wait 6+ months.

                    • Here is why Bungie was not ready. World of warcraft made you wait years for some expansions and you had to pay a subscription free after your 1st 2 week. That alone should show you how generous bungie is being with us. It will be months until the expansion.... and you are very excited to beat the whole game and save the universe as most of us are but until then there is a point where you have to ask yourself one question. If they gave us all of the content available how many people that you know would have stopped playing until they where (finished)? play the parts you like, be a part of community, that's what this game is about not about beating all of the content (yet at least) maybe once more people beat the raid they will start giving out freebie content. and one final note remember back in the days of halo 2 and the map pack that got released as both digital and Disk format? and then how after time had passed bungie had made the content free? They really are the shit #thankyoubungie
