An analogy I like to use to describe the Destiny Story, if this is the first part in a grand journey, is this: Think of Destiny as the first season of Breaking Bad. We never find out why Walter makes meth, Jesse is never introduced to the audience but he pops up every now and then, Walters character development is basically non existant and there is the strange fat bald guy who keeps laughing. That's basically the Destiny story, because nothing is explained.

It's not an ending of the story.... is basically just the c ending of episode 1.

Edited by DisarmedSpectre: 9/24/2014 9:52:06 AMGUYS THIS IS JUST THE ALPHA BETA BETA! THE REAL GAME ISNT SET TO RELEASE TILL 10/28/14! WE GOT YOU GOOD HUH! But it will be another 60$ from each of you. - Bungie Obviously a joke and not to be taken out of context!

None of the characters have any personality with the exception of the Queen and her Brother (mostly her brother), and the Stranger. Ghost is a robot and acts as such... they tried to introduce some humor and make him a little sarcastic, but he's no Cortana. And your character may as well be Plank from Ed, Edd, and Eddy. The most emotion showcased by your character is "Little light..." which is an attempt at humor, but it doesn't play very well. There are no compelling characters. There is barely a protagonist. There's no real antagonist. The "bosses" that you fight from each of the factions have no real explanation in relation to the game at all. You can read about them here on the site, but that's a terrible... TERRIBLE way of implementing their history. The most story you get for these characters is "Sepiks Prime has been terrorizing the city." Really? I haven't seen him terrorize anything. As far as I can tell, he was just chilling in his lair, getting worshiped and whatnot, then we broke in and decided to ruin his day.
Even the final encounter is void of any meaning or drama. "Oh! It's the Darkness! And the Vex worship it! You have to kill it!" And how do you kill it? You just kill some Vex statues... that kills the heart. Makes perfect sense, if you don't think about it.
And you can't argue that the "game is just beginning It's just getting started blah blah blah!", it doesn't matter. Every story. EVERY STORY needs to have a beginning, a middle, and an end. Every single series or trilogy has this. I don't care if you're watching the first season of a show that's meant to run for ten years... there's some story arc that that season is going to follow. You can play the first game in a trilogy, and most of them are going to have a compelling story to tell you. Halo had this. The first game had a definitive story arc. The story continued... as Destiny is meant to continue. But at the end of Halo, you learned a lot of things, and you accomplished a goal. Destiny has no such satisfaction. You're left at the end of every mission, and even at the end of the game, being told that you've basically done nothing, and there's more to do. No amount of blind fanboyism can argue against the truth. The story in Destiny... is very poorly presented, poorly acted, and poorly written. This is what happens when you lose Joe Staten, I guess.

The ending was a joke. Its obvious that we have only played the first Act. There is more to come. But seriously using Grimoire cards to tell the story is bullshit. It should have been in the game. Lazy writing or did Activision have a say in this matter. Whilst I like the game I was not immersed in it. I feel nothing for my characters (Titan, Hunter, Warlock) hell I don't know who they are: And the ghost? This games raises many questions and answers NONE! -blam!- the Grimoire cards I didn't pay NZ$114 to read bloody digital cards.
-
The game is fun and I enjoy it very much. The ending, however, was underwhelming. On the bright side, there are still many loose ends that hint towards continuation of the story.
-
No way!! Its not like they already stated that that is not the end of the story or anything!'
-
Dink: "So you think you can kill a god?" Me: "uh, wtf is going on and where am I?"
-
Bungie^
-
the ending is just the beginning
-
Go play a game that you can understand Maybe Halo is more suited for you.
-
This is not a dream the game is junk you were robbed.
-
Yeah... it sucked :/
-
Whatever team who wrote the story line for Destiny were on copious amounts of drugs.
-
It was like the build up and ending to Lost. Wut?

Edited by CaptMorgan72: 9/22/2014 5:29:51 PMWhat you did to the Black Heart was only a battle victory that dealt a serious blow to the Vex. They are far from defeated though and a new Black Heart will probably regenerate somewhere else. Destiny's ending is just the beginning of this saga. Like the Exo stranger told you at the end, the real fight is out there. The dailys, patrols and strike missions is the ongoing war against the Vex, Cabal, Fallen and Hive. The Vanguards won an important battle but the war is far from over.

The story is fine.
-
*Q dubstep lead up to base drop* Guess what... That was just a small portion of the story... And you know what that means...
ITS NOT THE FULL STORY *Q BASE DROP*
My reaction

I love destiny but this is soooo true why BUNGIE!!!!
-
What ending?

Bungie is setting this game up like an MMO. Whatever their overall story is for this universe they made they are only releasing it in pieces. Its the same thing Blizzard did with WoW, Diablo and Starcraft. The same thing Bioware did with Mass Effect and Dragon Age. They are wetting your appetite for the inevitable expansions.

I beat the game twice... still have no clue what's going on lol
