  • Joe 90% of the time hits game reviews right on the head perfectly........ This time I think he slipped up destiny by no means is a 10. Bungie hyped this game up so people are penalizing it for not being gods gift to earth. The game is a solid 8. PVP is fun and addictive, pve story line is lack luster, grinding is a lot if fun, and I rather like the random loot system. There haven't been any game breaking glitches or bad servers. The game had a smooth release and Bungie is giving us a good roll of free content every week.

    • That people think he is a moron or a douchebag doesn't really matter. That people think he regurgitates what the community in general thinks doesn't matter. He is spot on with this review. The points he brings up are all valid and he does list good and great aspects of the game. The only thing I found myself dissagreing on was how good the multiplayer is. It's good, but no where near as good as he said. If he puts what the general population of the game is thinking into a review, is it not a good tool for developers to use to find ways to improve customer satisfaction? Does it not give people buying it a good idea of what others have experiecned rather than just what one critic thinks? Not really a fan of his delivery or anything, but apparently a lot are, so whatever works for him.

      • What is so great about angry joe? His reviews and other gaming site reviews are always a little too much. Sure, they may have some good points once in a while, but most of them are getting too picky and anal about silly useless details that most gamers don't give a shit about, or wouldn't even notice if they were just playing the game. A good review is rare.

          • Finally having got to play the game over the weekend, reached Lvl 17, and the Defender Class....... I see the game has its merits. It's a fine shooter, reasonably good mechanics, hours to loot to play for, legendaries, daily, and weekly goals, etc. That's all pretty interesting too me and pretty much what I was expecting. Vex however were not..... very enjoyable enemy group to fight against. Less than "driving" plotline...... not so good. Less than interesting dialogue.....not so good. Oddly started the games core content at Lvl 20.... with nothing to do at 20+ but grind out light and crucible gear. Had a great deal of fun with the game, had a few "oh wow" moments, had many more "oh wow thats bad" moments while watching cut scenes. Still a more enjoyable game than some of the previous ones. Still looking forwards to 20+ and the Raids with the old gang.... if they wait for me to catch up.

                • I'll just go ahead and copy/paste my response to the review: Never watched one of his reviews before. Probably never will again. I'm quite tired of trying to counter every point for people so i'll just comment on a few. I agree that the PvP and gameplay is spot on. I agree that the story lacks a little (though not as much as he feels.) Halo 1 didn't answer much either or come with much. So if destiny is heading that same route i think all will be fine. I agree about the lore outside of the game. What's on the cards should be in the game. I Disagree on his view of the story. Perhaps the reason we don't get much to our character (lore wise) is because we are not an important piece in the over all story. Merely we spectate the universe in motion through a guardian. the soul series is like this. (not saying we shouldn't have more custom options just speaking from a lore perspective.) I disagree on the amature level design. Yes most missions are defense. But We can break down any game to that level. Halo, for instance, is mainly switch simulator. What really matters is the feel you get from it all. To me it didn't feel boring or repetitive. To him it did. it's a thing of perspective and should stop there. I also disagree on his grind complaints. Judging from this kind of way he talks he's not a fan of normal loot systems. He doesn't enjoy random. Which is fine it's not for everyone. But i don't think they did loot wrong in this game. In fact most RPG like games i've played that include a loot system make it heavily random based. It's common to get things not for your person. Destiny is repetitive. But I expected this when i heard it was going to borrow MMO elements. Nobody likes being shafted after some hard work. But i'd also not want things straight up handed to me just because i did X activity. Knowing that i can get something rare from doing those tough things is enough for me. This game doesn't feel repetitive to me. It's frustrating at times. But i love it overall. If i had to give it a review it would be a solid 8/10. If the expansions build on the entire game I will be even happier. I seriously hope they actually expand on every element like they stated. (meaning more strikes, raids, MP maps and loot etc.) Though The biggest ones for me will be strikes and raids. We don't get more of those i will actually be disappointed. As long as the remaining games build off of this they will become better and much more people will be pleased.

                  • I totally agree with everything he said. Pvp and gameplay are keeping it alive. They're starving us of the story and character development to sell dlc.

                    • Love this game but he's right on all fronts. I truly feel that Activision had some unsavory influence in Destiny's production. Most importantly I agree with his sentiment that it's less of a dislike for the game, and more disappointment that people are feeling. We all expected a lot from this and it seems like there were things supposed to be here that just aren't.

                      • Oh boy...another disappointed fool. As much as I like Joe he is a fool for expecting a game, that promised the same game experience on the 360 as PS4, to offer the vision of what Destiny will be, when it is solely on the current generation. The game in no way deserves the rating he gave, even with the flaws. I don't even need to see the video for his points, I probably have the same views, but the game has had a far more successful launch, as opposed to other games he has given a higher rating for. It's got solid gameplay, has a solid Coop experience (though socially lacking), and offers the ability of cross generation play. That is enough to get people hooked for the long haul. Might even be incentive for some to upgrade to next gen even, if given away in a bundle as Xbox is. You also have to look at the market standard for content release. If you don't have content coming out within 3-4 months, you can't compete with other titles release speeds. Of course that schedule is set by the Publishers, but that's a different topic. Was the content left out to make more money or because it would have caused a 2+ hour dl time on the 360, and wouldn't run smoothly? If you haven't tried it for 360, it is a bit empty, but larger, smoother, and far more graphically polished than other recent FPS titles on it. I've only hit a loading zone message once. Even if Destiny can't offer the same experience with the release of the expansions, they have already gotten people hooked on the initial gameplay, and more incentive to move consoles for 2015. It also gives time for customers to upgrade with other games releasing this holiday. It deserves at least what he gave Titanfall, he's just all worked up because his expectations won over his logic.

I agree with him 100%. I just hope Bungie and Activision add enough to the game without nickel and diming players to warrant more positive reviews in the future.

He is 100% right in my eyes, I tried giving this game a chance and many more infact. While it is fun when you take it at face value it ends up being a shambles when you look past that, I see so many design decisions that bewilder me.

                          • I agree angryjoe hits every point that I saw in this game that was an issue. I am probably never buying the sequel until I see that this problem is never repeated. The only reason I still play it is with my two other friends since this is the only game we can ever play together in. I am really disappointed in the production of this game because I was beyond excited for this story during E3 and then I get kicked to the ground by pay walls and cut story telling. What makes me even more frustrated is that people are still blind sided by all these issues and be-raid people saying that its still a good game and that nothing is wrong. We as the community need to fight back and say we won't take this poor excuse for a AAA title so that they might change there ways. But if we do nothing and let people get away with cutting our story and giving us 60 dollar games and 40 dollar DLC for like 75% of the story then we are just as blind sided as the metal gear community for buying the $40 dollar game metal gear solid ground zero. (THERE I SAID IT BURN AT THE STAKE IF YOU WILL I MADE MY POINT AND YOU KNOW IT!) (excuse my grammar)

                            • I honestly can't believe this game took 5 years and 500 million dollars to make? You know what else took 5 years to make? Skyrim, and Bethesda Game Studios is a third the size of Bungie, not to mention I bet their publisher gave them much less money.
