My thoughts on Destiny

I think the first question we need to ask ourselves before we start is what kind of person is this game for? Is this the game for die hards that will spend countless hours grinding their way to the top or is this the game for the casual player who comes on for a little bit every so often and then goes back to whatever else they might be doing? I beleive this was one of the first big things that bungie had to find the balance for. How do you make a game that will attract both audiences? Well the answer they came up with is what we are now playing as Destiny. Now that the game has released and everyone is playing I feel that a lot of people are confused on what this game is trying to be. Now im not trying to say that this IS what the game is but these are my impressions of it. This is the balance of both worlds. things like the loot system and raids are for the people that are looking for the long hual kind of game. On the otherhand the game has the feel of another very fimiliar shooter that lets anyone basically jump right in without needing that die hard mentality to stand a chance in the crucible. We have multiple ways to pass time as the more more focused players go about finding loot and trying to find the perfect armor set for that Titan build they are working on. Whether that be grinding for loot or replaying previous strikes at higher difficulties to challenge ourselves or gathering materials to increase the skill trees of that piece of armor. I appreciate the way they give us these things to do that keeps the die hards in while still catering to the casual that likes to get into crucible and play some games and get some loot. I think one of my biggest arguements with the reviews I read is why is Destiny being penalized for the options that it offers that are non existant in some shooters? There are so many games that i see that are rated Game of the year specifically for Multiplayer (or for Destiny we will refer to as PvP). But here we are. A game that encourages you to come back and play through these missions at higher difficulties, adds a pretty good RPG element to the game without going overboard, has a decent amount of customization options, strikes, raids, events, and then ontop of all of that a pretty good multiplayer experience. The story although may come off as lacking i feel is a good introduction. It gave us that first meeting with that new universe and shown us some characters a long the way that we will see for things like events that we will see in the future. Although I will admit that I feel there could have been more of a clarification to some things in the story, I do enjoy the sense of mystery from it and I hope that events later on expand on the story as well. Proximity Chat is and issue. My biggest gripe being that I can ONLY talk to people on my fireteam. I cant talk to any of my teammates in crucible can feel like a pretty big pain. I can understand some of the other areas for limitations but this feels very wrong at the moment. Hopefully this can be fixed later on through patches. We have also been dealing with the netcode issues and connection errors. It seems one of the live patches resolved most of the errors for me. How about you guys? The actual gameplay feels superb to myself. Everything feels very tight and responsive. I can always jump into crucible and feel like im having a blast. I feel that this game has so much potential. Although it does not take advantage of all of them it does a very good job. Over the next few months and with the release of the first expansion we can see how this game is going to evolve. We will see if these said events are going to keep up with the hype that seems to be building beside them. We will also get to see how extensive the expansion will or will not be. I can only hope for more success personally because so far i havent been able to put this game down. If they can keep this up this will become one of my favourite shooters of all time. Once again these are all my opinions on the game. Whats everyone else's thoughts about Destiny?
