This happens in other games too, like Diablo 3. Just use PSN chat. Much better. Tho a fuss if you are teamed up with People that are not in your friendlist. :( Sorting out these communication issues needs to be their highest priority right now!

  • Ah ok, this is a Playstation issue then? I'm guessing XB1 users can chat just fine then eh? Oh well, kind of a bummer. I do a lot of strikes with random folks and it would be fun to make some friends. Also it would be helpful to communicate with team mates on objective crucible games. There's simply no time to friendlist everybody :/

  • Not necessarily. As my mic works, as I can see it when talking that the mic icon reacts ingame. Did you check Your settings, both on PS4 and Destiny ingame setttings? That chat is set to headphone? If you don't hear other People talking at all, it might be they don't have a mic connected at all and don't bother. :(

  • Microphone works and settings are all good. I do get the "transmit" icon when I'm in a fireteam or a crucible, but every time I do it I end up sending a PSN message to the people saying "I can't hear you can you hear me" and they send one back saying "nope I'm having the same problem" happens in crucible, strikes, and even once in a story mission where some guy was doing the same one I was on mars. So basically the only way I can use voice with someone is if I take the time to send them a message, then friend them, wait for them to accept the friend request, and the create a PSN party, invite them, and then wait for them to accept the invite. Kind of a pain in the butt when I would assume that Bungie would be OK with chatting between fireteam members since, you know, you can set the level of privacy you'd like with one. Only reason I think this is a bug is because I'm getting the "transmit" loudspeaker icon when I chat to my fireteam but no one is hearing me and I'm not hearing anyone (even people I know that have mics, AKA my friends who ultimately end up in a console party with me) I've done a search and it seems like this is a big issue but I didn't know because there's lots of petitions and requests for open world chat and I just want to make sure that something isn't messed up on my end because it seems intuitive that you would want to chat with people you invited to your fireteam, or that there would be more options to allow voice comms between people you don't know that are in your fireteam (crucible/strike)
