Abrams did great with Star Trek IMO, the cast selection is very good, and it's part of a new gen of Star Wars EU with zero limits

Yeah it does sound good so far - although I'm hoping the rumours aren't true about the opening. A floating hand sounds a bit lame :-/

Plus Luke being missing for that amount of time. One rumor said thirty years...no way. Han, Leia, and, Chewie would start looking for him after he was missing for a week.

I agree with you about the hand. Having it floating in space gripping Luke's lightsaber seems incredibly cheesy to me, not to mention that it would burn up while reentering the atmosphere (unless lightsaber metalmaterials are extremely resistant). I would like some things to remain from the EU, like Mara Jade and Luke establishing the headquarters of the New Jedi Order on Yavin IV is a must! Maybe throw Kyle Kartan in there too.

Yeah I like Kartan and Jade's characters too. I'd love to see them in the new film, but I doubt they will be :-(
