Alliances
So I know we have Alliances with other clans in the game. But help a noob out. What do the Alliances serve in game? Will there there be PVP zones that require allegiances to other clans for protection or safety? I tried looking some of the info up but failed in my attempts so hoping someone can clarify some of the info or point me in the right direction ;)

Yes, I think they serve networking purposes - like-minded clans can mix and match clanmates to fireteams if they choose. That said, Deej explained the true reasoning behind alliances in an interview with Guardian Radio Network : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F3HDC3EIOXM .Start at about the 35:00 mark. Rather than attempt to paraphrase him, I'll just let him speak for himself :). I think you'll understand where Bungie was going with clans and alliances. I'm sure things will evolve over time. Bungie will react to the needs of its community. But that was the basic gist.

1 ReplyI've actually been curious about this as well. My best guess... think an "alliance" is more the clans that are friendly and possible network with each other if they have members that need help with something that nobody IN the clan can help with or they're looking for an extra person to fill a raid slot or something. I don't think they will be like WoW where I ended up personally causing a (probably) 50 on 50 war for a few hours. Honestly, the world pvp in WoW was some of the greatest stories I have from the game and I'm going to miss that.
