Official League of Legends discussion thread

Thought we could have one, since more members of MBT are starting to play. You know how these things work. For those that don't know or are interested, league of legends is a free online game where you fight in arenas on teams, trying to destroy the enemy base. Its that RTS-styled field of view, but your champion has skills. Its not an RPG, its not an RTS. Its fun. leagueoflegends.com Epic Push in a 4v5 match by Me and Dan and Theo [Edited on 01.14.2012 11:54 AM PST]

 • Darkace - Top/Mid Pros - You usually win your lane, and are far enough ahead to be a big presence in mid-game teamfights. You farm well, and you have very good instincts on where the power level of your champion/abilities are. You farm well, and you are getting very good at figuring out what items are neede both by yourself/the team and getting them. Cons - You win your lane, but you don't take advantage of it. The reason why so many people dislike playing toplane is because of how incredibly snowbally the lane is. 1 kill or 15 cs ahead of the enemy laner and you can absolutely crush them unless the jungler pulls off some major help. You consistently get multiple kills ahead of your opponent, but often you don't actually bully them. I think the best way to improve that area itself is to watch a vid or two of Wickd playing Irelia. As soon as he is ahead, you can't come back because of his pressure on his lane opponent. If you do that, you'll be even more of a terror toplane. My other main comment would be what I told you while we talking on LoL the other day. Start playing ranked with your 4/5 best champions, at least 2 games or so a day. Ranked really is a completely different level than normal queues are, and if you focus on a few specific champions, and learn them in a more competitive environment, it will make you an even better player. Theo - Jungle/Top Pros - You last hit pretty well in lane, and overall you're great at picking champions that pull our team comp together in terms of synergy. You have a fairly large pool of champs you can play effectively, and you and Alec are our two most diverse players. When you gank it's usually at least a burned flash, if not a kill. Cons - Map awareness. Junglers are the role that needs to be most aware of where everyone on both teams are at all time. Early game your job is to get our lanes ahead as often as possible, while keeping yourself up with jungle farm in between. The problem with that is that you sometimes have difficulties clearing your jungle routes fast, and there are games where you get timid with your ganks. My suggestion would be to stick with the jungle paths for each champ that is in their guides on mobafire/solomid, at least for the first clear or two. If you fall behind the enemy jungler/lanes, it just snowballs you into a bad position. The other thing isn't truly a con, but more of a thought. Overall, when we're playing ranked 5s, we need one (1) person to make the calls. If we leave laning phase and everyone is going to yell out who to go for in a teamfight, we're never going to have good focus. We need to settle on one person, and have them make the calls on when to go in, who is priority, etc. The reason I list this under your part is because the two roles who do this most often are the mid and jungle. I know you have the ability to do this, and do it well, but it's something you'll need to step up to and embrace. Dan Pros - You outlane 90% of your competition, through good farming and picking your fights well against the opposing bot lane. Once teamfights start you're good at positioning yourself where you need to be for maximum effectiveness, particularly with Graves and Ezreal. Cons - As Gavin said, you are somewhat light on communication with the rest of the team. You and whoever your support is should be talking quite often. If you want to make it a farm lane, let the support know. If you want to go aggressive for a kill lane, you guys need to be on the same page: who is initiating, whats the signal to go in, etc. etc. I would also like to see you learn/play a few more champs, Kog, Vayne, and Draven in particular. All 3 are monsters lategame, and while you've been playing Draven more, I would love to see that trio in your repetoire. Gavin Pros - You know your role very well, and you know the limits of the champs that you play. You're rarely out of position, especially in lane, and you do a great job of snowballing Dan/adc. Cons - You still have a fairly small support pool. Most of the supports that I see you doing well with (Sona, Janna, Taric primarily) are great, but they also leave some doors closed for certain comps. Zyra, Alistar, Leona, and Lulu are all supports I would love to see you learn to play/learn better. You also need to work on your itemization. With the new changes coming in season 3, it looks to be a great time to be playing support, but you need to know which item is right for the situation you are in, both for you and your team. Everyone else besides Jank I don't really think I've played with enough recently to be able to say accurately what I think they need to work on/where their strengths are.
