I don't know why people are complaining about the lack of split screen. The days of FPS split screen are coming to an end and for good reason. What you see (or can't see) impacts your game experience.
Split screen...
- cuts you viewable area in half (or fourths)
- distorts the screen ratio
- decreases screen resolution
- decreases frame rate
People should not be upset that their experience is being protected.
-
Split screen will become split monitor.... one system, two TVs connected by bluetooth. So you can still play on one system without connecting to the interweb and dragging down system bandwidths.
-
Dude it encourages friends to come over and rock out
-
You sound like a facist like people dont know what they want you know what they want and thats no split screen
-
You dont have to play in splitscreen when you dont like it but others want to. The splitscreen experience isnt as good as the single player experience in matter of gameplay but it is more fun to play together with friends in one room and its a better way to play together with your friends/family than buying another console + game + gold/psn+ I dont care if they must drop graphics a bit to implement splitscreen even when i personly wouldnt use it that much (I know there is no way they would implement it in this game but i would appreciate it in Destiny 2 would be better than an upgrade to 60fps ) Graphics/fps and such things are not all there is.

Edited by X1014: 8/16/2014 8:44:14 PMSplit screen was invented for a very good reason sir. It allows for more social interactions between friends and family aside from there having to be a whole separate console for each person. Tons of people would be upset if the next COD or Halo had no split screen. Split screen is not at all terrible. You're heavily mistaken

Edited by HomeSliceArmy: 8/16/2014 12:18:34 AMBungie has stated that they fully support split-screen but the lack of it is to give the players a better experience. Some people just enjoy kicking back with a few friends (In real life) and playing a game together, hard to grasp guys I know.
just because a few people are too cheap to get their own software/hardware
I think you meant poor, right. It's a very real thing that people can't afford several $400 consoles and multiple copies of the same $60 game and they should be entitled to as good of an experience on a lower budget. But really, calm down, this forum recently turned to whine about problems or other people who whine.

You may not like splitscreen, but for others, splitscreen is their favourite part about gaming. I love sitting with three of my friends, chilling, drinking and playing some games. They don't have to give us the feature, but that means a lot of people won't buy it. I've seen a lot of people saying they aren't buying it, because it doesn't have splitscreen. I personally won't be getting it, because I only buy FPS if they have splitscreen. A large part of bungie's fan base play their games for splitscreen and they're alienating them. They can't afford to lose fans when the budget for this game is the highest for any game ever created.

Edited by Triggurhappi9: 8/16/2014 12:43:46 AMThat is your opinion man and continue to speak for yourself but as a father I enjoy playing split screen with my son's, especially when they are wanting to play Destiny so bad. We have a 65" HDTV and playing Borderlands 2 split screen is great it's like playing on two 32" tv's and is a great fun experience.

I don't see the point in arguing against having more options. If you don't want to use it, don't use it. But theres no reason that those who want it can't have it. Your experience will not be ruined by another player playing with a friend. It won't effect you in the slightest, unless you just so happen to join a fireteam with them. So I can't imagine why you would be against it. Its not like you're forced to use splitscreen. Its the player's decision, and if they want to play with a friend who comes over, then they should be allowed to.
-
The point of split screen is not because someone is too cheap to buy there own system. Yes online multiplayer is great, but there is something about playing a game with someone in the same room that makes multiplayer games so much fun. Why do you think ea sport games sell so well? It's just the atmosphere of it. That's why people want it.
-
Allow me to move my 60 inch tv, xbox 360 and surround sound over to my friends house just so I can have a similar gaming experience... No thanks. I prefer having the option to split screen.
-
I will never play split screen but I think players should have the option. For someone to complain about an option is retarded. But hey I understand your a little slow.
-
I think you overlook the obvious, Bungie was a leader and big supporter of split-screen until there new masters took over, Bottom Line is Moolah No Split-screen = Buy another copy of the Game Ya Right good luck on that one LoL

Edited by DawnBlue: 8/16/2014 3:31:01 AMHow on Earth, Moon, Sun, or any planet in our solar system for that matter would your experience be ruined by someone else getting to use splitscreen? You owe us all a VERY good explanation for that. You know some people still visit their friends and family, right? Not everyone keeps their social interactions online... and there are times when it would be nice to play any good game with them on the same system. Especially when they might not have that platform / game at all. Of course the experience would be diminished by the screen's smaller size for the players but honestly nobody cares. That's the nature of splitscreen gaming.

There are groups of friends who do actually try to hang out in person instead of over a microphone. Couch MP games really helps the camaraderie among friends, and keeps them closely knit, no matter how far apart inevitability may or may not take them. I respect it, sometimes value it.
-
This problem can be solved with one sentence. You don't have to use it.
-
None of this matters to us that are just playing with friends and family on a Friday night with pizza and drinks to have a good time..

Edited by OldboyVicious: 8/16/2014 9:29:30 PMEDIT: This post is a joke... but feel free to send me a private email full of bad words when you take it too seriously anyways haha! I want split screen... That one time we got matched up against 4 kids all sharing one screen... it was such an easy win! We each had our own TVs and consoles. We PWNED THEM! After the match we just couldn't stop laughing about how bad they were and then they told us it was because their screen was split into 4 tiny screens hahaha!
They were all between the ages of 6-11 and also staying in a children's hospital due to various injuries and conditions... Their clan name was like "Oncology Wardens" or something... stupid kids making up words.
This is an online game, with online profiles, through Destiny's servers, and yada yada, it's made to be an online experience, I don't even understand why people thought split screen could be a thing with something like this, it's idiotic.
-
In all honesty, thats the same as trying to make world of warcraft splitscreen. It just doesn't work with a game like Destiny.
-
You forgot about Screen looking.
-
My mate brings his console and TV to my house, we play sat next to each other, in the same room. Split screen isn't needed.
-
I play on a 27" Asus monitor, not fun for splitscreen.
-
True dat
-
Because I want to spend $600+ so I can play destiny with my little brother. (New tv and ps3)
-
How about brothers, you think their parents are going to buy them both a console?
