My Thoughts on Raid Matchmaking.

Alright. So why can't raids have both? If you want to get a team of friends together to do raids than you can. If you want to just play alone with 5 others you can. What's the big deal? Why is that such a big problem? I don't have any friends that will be playing Destiny (don't have much friends at all due to social anxiety) I'm not good with socializing or making new friends, so that means I won't be able to do raids at all? That's ridiculous. For me and many others with this problem doing this would be more stressful than it would be fun. I don't care if I don't have as great of a time, it takes more times to beat it than if I had 5 friends who made strategies and other nonsense together, or if it dilutes the experience. It should be an option. Just because I don't want to go out and find people to do this with, doesn't mean I shouldn't be able to do it at all!

  • Well, I'll start by saying that you already said the exact reason for not having it: "it dilutes the experience." As someone who has been raiding in MMOs for years, I've seen what adding a matchmaking system can do to people. It encourages carrying, laziness, uncommunicative playstyles, and allows for people who barely put any effort into the game to be nearly on par with people who worked to perfect themselves and their playstyle. I totally get why people want there to be matchmaking, but it seems like people seem to ignore how insanely bad it would be for the game itself. The point of a raid is to be a challenge to organized groups. Adding matchmaking now would require an entire redesign of the raid, and that probably won't happen within a month. Now, there are some things you can do to completely eliminate the need for matchmaking. You could join a clan, add friends for your respective platform, organize groups on the forums, etc. Bungie wants to encourage these types of actions with the raid. It adds a whole new level of depth to the game. I saw that you have social anxiety, and I understand that it would be tough, but you've gotta throw yourself out there if you want to do raids. They're meant to be a social experience just as much as an intense end game challenge. If you happen to be on PS4, I'd be happy to raid with you and whatnot to help make it easier to find groups. Either hit me up with a PM or head over to the clan page my buddy and I just recently started, we'll always be willing to do raids and pvp, especially once we get a few more members to have a few groups going all the time. http://www.bungie.net/en/Clan/Detail/164524
