my letter to the destiny team for all to read Love it or Hate

Destiny Team, I have written in once during the alpha and would like to again share my thoughts on Destiny. This time I got to play with many of my friends on both consoles and it provided a different experience for me. I feel as though Destiny has amazing potential, but it is still not the game you promised when first announced. To some extent that is ok, as there is always road blocks, and lets face it a First Person Shooter Mass Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game (FPSMMORPG) isn’t just a mouth full it would be a huge task even if all the great game companies worked together to create it, but here are some things I feel are important and lacking. The RPG element is there in a subtle way, but I was really hoping for something more. I feel like complaining is not constructive so I have a couple suggestions, and knowing full well that in the end it all comes down to dollar signs I tried to keep things simple. First the classes should have more definition between them and it would not take much for each class, for example looking at the titan that has the general build to be a solid tank class. Starting him out with a class passive of drawing more agro so right out the gate he fits all the great makings of a tank, and moving the amount of usable abilities from 3 (not counting the jump) to five would add more depth to the class which could make all the difference. One ability could be as simple as emitting a blinding flash that just pulls all attention on to him, and a second could be an extra layer of armor that lasts a short period of time, again these are just general ideas I am throwing out that I discussed with my friends and worked out together. Next let us look at the warlock. Give him a class passive to shoot his allies to give them health and now he is a perfect fit for the role of healer change his personal heals to group heals within a given range and a grenade that heals allies along with two other abilities that could include a ranged resurrection and a d.o.t. (damage over time) he could place on an enemy for an attack or on an ally for life. Lastly my favorite class the Hunter a class passive of extra crit. or melee damage would be enough to place him in the field of a dps class along with two extra abilities that could be something like a trap he can lay and a personal buff, maybe even one that affect the whole team. Again these are just some thoughts my friends and I have to make each class feel different from one another. As it is at the moment, none of the class feel special or important, and this can be a major problem when it comes to thinking about the longevity of the game. Before I touch on any of what I would consider to be more minor and easier to change things I would like to take some time to mention some of the things that I think are great about the game. First threat awareness or better known as an agro system, I think this was key as it is for any team based game well done, and it really gives a sense of meaning to the way a team enters into a situation. Next the placement of guns in each category i.e. primary, secondary, heavy, as it stands right now all the guns, as few in number as there have been, all really feel like they fit as well as being well balanced in each of their respective categories. Again I say well done, it is really hard to find an fps of any caliber with a well-balanced arsenal. I also have to give your artist credit, and I am not talking graphically, just the way each area has been pieced together really brings up the experience to another level. It brings a sense of realism to the world we are playing in, and that amazing if I can’t get lost in the world there is no reason for me to play the game. The last thing that really stands out that I really like, although I also hate this, that there is so much mystery to the story, or as much as I have played through all the story missions. I feel like I still don’t know anything that’s going on, not even about my own character like I haven’t even begun to scratch the surface of this potentially huge universe you have created to act as our playground in many ways its breath taking. Now I just want to discuss some of the minor issues that I have seen and heard from my friends in discussions. The lack of depth and attachment to the npc’s (non playable characters) around us at this point I don’t feel as though I have a reason to care about them not even my ghost that brings you back from the dead. This leads me to the second issue I have being brought back from the dead really at this point with how little we know about what’s going on it doesn’t make any sense to me what so ever but that’s mostly a personal thing. Than there is the seemingly pointless nature of the ships you can buy I understand that that’s how guardians travel around but unless I get to personally pilot it around and maybe get to participate in a dog fight now and than I don’t see the point. Another thing that could be resolved later in the game that just hasn’t been revealed yet but why do all the ghosts sound the same this is just another aspect that doesn’t make sense at this point in the game. Also the inclusion of different race’s that don’t matter out side of appearance there is nothing different about them which to me seems like a waste of time you could have just had one race with more customizations if race wasn’t going to matter again this is just personal preference. I would hate to leave this on a bad note so here some other notable things I have enjoyed so far. The verity of things there are to do i.e. missions, strikes, explore mod, and the knowledge that there is one game mod yet to be reveled. PvP is very well balanced even though I am not always the biggest fan of PvP this game may be the exception for me. I also really enjoy the fact that there is an in game storage as well as building “loyalty” with different vendors for shops by doing different things it gives the game a little more depth that I feel every game really needs some where. When all is said in done I think you guys really did make a decent game here and I am sure there is lots more you would like to do with it that you either haven’t reveled or can’t do due to budgeting constraints and I would love to be surprised with some big changes on the launch date. I can’t thank you guys enough for letting me experience both the alpha and the beta for Destiny, a game with more potential than I have seen out of any game that’s been released in the last five years and despite there being some pretty major things I would like to see done differently I am still very excited for launch and hope you guys are as well. Thanks again, Ginthereaper
