Yes, yes, I read the interview quotes on 'why' the cap is lvl 20. I am just in total disagreement with it, does that make Bungie care? No. I would just like to be able to look forward to more then an 8 hour level cap from the time of launch until level 20 is reached, and then only have item farming as a lateral option. ALSO this says to me that the game is going to be pretty friggin small compared to what we are all expecting, just because you can play each level 'twice' technically because of the difficultly setting does not mean that it turns 30 story levels into '60' because of the setting. We all want the Massive part in MMO, to not just mean the number of people playing but also the scope of the game. Ok, I'm done, now...... feed me your hate.

Edited by FairlySplendid: 7/23/2014 10:02:23 PMContext. You have none. All you have a beta, an arbitrary number, your speculation, and blind conjecture as to what that number (if it doesn't end up changing) means to you in the bigger picture. Why not 7 levels? Why not 77 levels? Why not 7,777 levels? Why don't we wait till we actually have the finished game in-hand and then discuss what the level cap should be. Because right now all you have is an emotional response to a number that is floating around in the air. What you don't have is real context as to what leveling will feel like and represent in the final version of the game. As someone who was part of the pre-alpha, the alpha, and now the beta my advice to you is to chill out and wait to see how the game continues to evolve. Because everything is still in flux. Nothing is set in stone.

Did you see the Legendary items that say you have to pay with modes of light? (Or something like that) You earn 1 for every level PAST lvl 20. Let's play the "wait and see" game before we jump to conclusions.

Did you play Guild Wars 1? They had the same approach. You hit the cap fast and you spend a majority of the time playing content at the cap giving you alternative ways to advance. The same thing is happening with destiny. The level cap is not indicative of the game size at all. Also, I don't expect the level cap to increase with sequels either because they said that they want you to be able to use the same guardian on all games in the series.

Did they change it? Last I saw lvl cap was 8??

I'm pretty sure 20 was a soft cap. Meaning they will raise the level cap in the future

It's not a MMO..

The leveling for the beta was accelerated. It will take you much longer to reach 20 than you think. Also, you can go past level 20 by collecting motes of light, and your light level will increase your level past 20

You can level up. You just don't use xp to level up, I believe. I saw a video the other day where someone was a 29. The level thing becomes gold instead of silver. The cap isn't 20, my friend!

Edited by Swasher: 7/24/2014 3:42:31 AMYou do realize you can go over level 20 right? You just have to level up in a different way.
