I switched from Xbox to PlayStation this gen, and I have to say I don't feel the same urge to earn trophies that I did to earn achievements. Having a points total that every achievement adds to was smart on Microsoft's part. Of course, if it really mattered that much to me, I wouldn't have switched.

It's the opposite for me. I like trophies better
-
Same. Gamerscore doesn't have as much value as the platinum trophy or trophy level IMO.
-
It just feels good getting a platinum and seeing that number by your name
-
Agreed. Just got my 9th platinum today (Wolf Among Us) and it's still awesome
-
The only platinum I have is infamous ss. Almost had tomb raider but the match making system is broken, making one of the trophies impossible to get *cries*
-
I like the trophy system it's nice and colorful compared to the achievements
-
The rewards system they implemented is nice too. Getting money for points you spend is a decent perk.
-
I don't remember that. Is it recent?
-
Yeah. There are different reward tiers depending on your gamerscore. It's pretty cool.
-
You have a trophy "level" and experience bar on PSN, for what its worth.
-
-
I see trophies as more important. The three tiers of trophies and the Platinum trophies are greater incentive than a singular large number.
-
I do like the rarity percentages on the trophies. It's nice to get that trophy that only 2% of other players have.
-
I started to notice that as well. Sometimes knowing that less that 1% (or 2% for that) of people can obtain it makes me want it all the more. But I guess I can see the appeal of a numerical score. It's like a leaderboards that shows exactly how you rank among your peers. PSN just gives you a rank in the end. Both work imho.

I could see a running total being a better driver, but the levels are similar over all. After 20k gamer score you aren't going to really notice 5/10/15 gamerscore as much as when you turn the corner from 20k to 21k, same difference except that the turn over is to level 21 from 20...

True. I guess I like the points total because it's an immediate reward. Even if it's a five point achievement, there's a small but immediate change in your gamer score, while it takes several trophies to advance a level.
