Alright I spoke with Noble Iron Sky and here is what he said.
The user needs to isolate the profile he wants to use. Then, what ever other profiles he's made need to be unlinked with new shell accounts. Once they are all free, he should sign back into his primary Bungie.net User Profile and link the other auth types.
Does that make sense?

  • Sort of. I'm trying to understand how the "shell accounts" work. I think that's one of the reasons the link process wasn't functioning properly. And what does he mean by isolating?

What I want you to do, is create a dummy Gmail account and link that to your Microsoft account, so that your Microsoft, Facebook, real Gmail, will all be free. Can you do that?

  • So once I have the dummy Gmail linked to the Microsoft account. Log out from the Microsoft account, then log into the dummy account and unlink the Microsoft account and then that would work? Am I correct?

Yes, that is correct. If this doesn't work, I may have to have you sign into all three of your accounts, (Real Gmail, Facebook, and Microsoft.) Because we believe you may have made all separate accounts for each of them by accident. Then you'd need to put dummy accounts on each one so they are then indeed free.

  • Well I didn't encounter the "creation process" yet when creating a profile from Bungie. So hopefully that will work i'll let you know how it goes.

  • Lol. It seems that I have no success in freeing my google account. The dummy account is link with the old gmail account. And i was able to link and unlink my Microsoft account on my PSN account. But I still can't link my Gmail account. :( I'm getting frustrated right now.

What account did you use for your "Dummy account"? Ok this may sound complicated, but this now what you have to do, you'll have to sign into each of the accounts that are not linked with your PSN account. you have to link a "Dummy account" to each of them. So sign into your Facebook account, then link a dummy account to that one. Sign into your gmail account and link a new dummy account to that one. So in the end, the only thing that will remain is your "Dummy accounts" and any account your were able to link with your PSN account. Does that make sense?

  • I used a Gmail account. But the thing is that It's going to take me to the "creation process" screen for both Gmail and Facebook. So, from what I'm assuming is that I'll have two extra separate accounts if I do that.

That is what I believe you will actually have to do, I believe to make the system think you created new accounts, so then you can free them. So, if you have to, make new accounts and make whole new "Dummy accounts" for those accounts. So you'lll have to make a "Dummy Gmail account" for your facebook, and another "Dummy account" not gmail, to unlink your Real gmail account.

  • I see. But, it's only the Gmail account I'm trying to link. And the Microsoft and Facebook accounts I believe I can link and unlink properly. It's just the Gmail account that is not working for me. But, I'll give it another go.

Then, just create a new account for your Gmail account and don't worry about Facebook right now.

  • I tried everything. I ended up having to register my Gmail account again. But when I try to use a dummy account it won't unlink and for some reason my original Gmail account seems to be active where I link the dummy account to. I think for now I'll just use my PSN account. Hopefully Bungie makes an update about this. I really believe they should consider in having the user to delete or deactivate their own profile. It just seem so simple or easy in my opinion. Thank you for all your help. If there is any update about a similar issue I've been having, please let me know if you can try to remember me. Thanks again for everything.

Shell accounts, are just dummy accounts made solely for the purpose of Unlinking accounts. He means, just make sure you know which account you want to use as gouge primary account and keep that secure, so you don't by accident unlink it or anything.
