Across America the Independence Day holiday is a time for grilling, fireworks, and parades. But how much is that an excuse to party - and how much is it a genuine display of patriotism?
It turns out most people in the US would say they are often proud of being Americans, according to data collected by the Pew Research Center.
But this pride often falls along generational lines, and many Americans still wonder if the country's best years are in the past.
And that 58 is correct
-
What's your point? Nothing wrong with loving your country. Some people overdo it but still
-
%100 of lonepauls a like feeding underaged girls, sausage. Can we all stfu now?
-
Those 42% can make like a tree AND GET OUTTA HERE
-
But 100% of Americans know it's wrong to have sex with children.
-
Well, when you think about, things are pretty easy going by comparison to other spots in the world. Even if there are obvious flaws, which every country has, America is a good country. Just so long as you don't hurt yourself or apparently tread on the cursed ground of Florida.
-
Okay... So? What exactly was the point of this thread? Especially considering that you and generally every other brit, chap, lad or mate thinks the same about their land...
-
And why is that a problem? You Britards need to stop getting so asshurt whenever americans show patriotism for their country.
-
Surprisingly low. Those 42% Can GTFO
This. And the UK needs to stop being butthurt about America winning the Revolutionary war
-
Can't be bothered.
-
but how many know that other countries exist? it's really their medias fault to begin with. This had come up the other day when i was talking to some politicians. I think this is one of the reason that they seem to have so many problems with things like global warming. Since they believe they are the best, they don't think that they need to fix anything or improve. So even things that should be simple like funding bridge repairs meet so much resistance from one group or another
-
I am very proud to be an American... I don't always agree with our leaders or citizens, but I always respect them and support my country in every way I can.
-
I'm proud not to be American.
-
LOL the 42% are the butthurt conservatives who are still pissed we have Obama. It'll go back up to a healthy 95+% after he leaves office and all of the haters calm down.
-
Edited by wolfbuzz: 7/7/2014 8:06:43 PMI'm not entirely certain why this is surprising or even worth comment; especially considering the US ranks 29th in Math and we have one of the worst ranked healthcare systems in the modern world. No matter your political affiliation or beliefs, I find it hard to believe that anyone finds this current status quo is acceptable. The more important discussion to have is what, exactly, should be done.
-
We don't condone sex with children here so I understand why you don't like it.
-
That's quite low, really.
-
> most people in the US > 52%
-
Why is it a sin to be proud to be American? God you liberal butt hurt idiots just really hate America lol.
-
Surprisingly low. Those 42% Can GTFO
-
So that must be the reason I'm no american!
