The ending is the best part IMO of this video.. Make sure you watch the WHOLE thing :)
Are Guardians Zombies? Or something more?
We dug and dug for this info and Leopard created a pretty great video on the topic with the evidence uncovered. Take a peek, if you dare.

While this is a Obvious speculation piece. The details in this video are quite the argument to say we are dead. i personally buy into the theory that we are vessels of the Travelers Light.
What do You think about this?

Edited by DJenser: 7/2/2014 6:41:00 PMIt would definitely provide a valid in-game reason for respawning. To add yet another layer to your theory: What if the so-called "Ancient Dead" were, in fact, gamers? Think about it: Ghosts comb through ancient databases & come across what appear to be the statistics of warriors who have single-handedly waged campaigns against and defeated entire enemy armies, with amazing skills in attaining various goals during their missions, as well as crazy K/D ratios during internecine conflicts (that is, PvP). The Ghosts take one look at these statstics & they think "Jackpot!! THESE are the people we need to fight against the Darkness!" Normally, such a move would make for great comedy, as the Ghost would perhaps have little to no knowledge of "video games" or the average gamer's physical shortcomings, resulting in the kind of fish-out-of-water storyline that generates big laughs among moviegoing audiences everywhere. However, Ghosts are advanced enough to create perfect (if somewhat generic, stats-wise) bodies for these resurrected gamers as well as imbue those bodies with the skills & reflexes needed to handle the rigors of combat and allow them to channel the Traveler's power. Bodies are, after all, physical things. Skills can be imparted into those bodies with relative ease. What we call "skills" are patterns encoded in the neurons of the cerebrum and "reflexes" are muscle memory encoded in the basal ganglia. Both skills and voluntary reflexes are usually learned by engaging in repeatable patterns of activity: piano lessons, basket weaving, martial arts, target shooting, etc. Given a sufficiently advanced level of medical knowledge, all of these things can effectively be pre-programmed into a brain. What's missing are the less well-defined factors of the human psyche: those more ephemeral criteria that vary from person to person, such as the strength and courage needed to blaze through a predetermined path in the face of overwhelming adversity, the ingenuity to seek out alternative paths, the wisdom to know which of these courses of action to take depending on the situation, and the sheer drive that pushes most gamers to beat the game at the highest difficulty level. When you look at it from that perspective, gamers are pretty much an ideal list of candidates. So I say that Guardians are not mere "zombies", but rather they are resurrected gamers. Given the fact that Bungie has gone to great lengths to incorporate in-game explanations for well-known game mechanics into Destiny's storyline (Respawning=reconstituted by your Ghost, Pulling weapons, gear & vehicles from thin air=Digital storage of their matter patterns, one-size-fits-all ammo, etc), it makes sense that Guardians are reconstituted gamers. It would certainly explain why our names are our gamer tags.
