Worried about the course of Assassin's Creed

I feel like Ubisoft is really forgetting the core of their franchise's history. While it's nice that they're bringing us to new places, introducing new characters, and adding new gameplay mechanics, it's repulsive what they've done to the Assassin Order. While I am a part of the 1% that actually enjoyed ACIII, I was really annoyed with how they completely skipped Achilles teaching Connor the morals and history of the assassins with a simple fade out. While ACIV was an amazing game, they had even less lore. Pretty much none. Nill. Zip. We got absolutely nothing, and the amount of PoE time was weak. We got NSA blood cubes. That was it. Where's the morality, the story, the powerful Pieces of Eden? Ubisoft better not -blam!- ACU's story up.

There is no ACU story. It's whatever they make up as they go along. How have people not noticed this after years of AC games? If you want a consistent story you are looking in the wrong place.

      • I believe ACIII might have skipped over the teachings because if you're invested in the franchise you pretty much know that information already. Though it's not very beginner friendly, I think people who actually enjoyed it would decide to go back and play the previous ones. And correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't Achilles at least mention Altair and/or Ezio? We did at least see some of Achilles' teachings to Connor, but I get your frustration at the absence of lore. AC4 I can agree with. It did feel like they focused less on the Pieces of Eden, that being said Edward was not that much of an Assassin to begin with. He was more concerned with being a pirate and protecting his friends and getting loot, the blood cube just happened to be a part of his story - or so I felt. Also his story was a prequel so to say, I read somewhere that the Kenways are sort of an exception to the Assassins order because they're more driven by personal goals and the Assassins' goals just happen to align with their personal goals.

        • I just want it to end soon. Which probably won't happen because the modern day story progresses very little...

          • Story spoilers ahead!
AC4 showed where Haytham came from, from pirate Kenway. He learned how to fight from his father obviously, but he never grew up with the assassins to learn their values. The order is too frayed while the templars are organized and always plotting. Just look at the modern state of the assassins (in game terms of course lol), they're just a rogue group doing espionage while the templars are psuedo corporations with hidden motives. It only makes sense that the Assassins are frayed and losing purpose, it's the reason why the templars are so powerful in the modern age.
