What games have actually lived up to the hype?

It seems like every time a AAA title is announced, massive levels of hype come with it, and that of course leads to a lot of excitement for the game. Then a month after release, it becomes the newest addition to everyone's "worst games of all time" list or is just ignored. It makes me wonder: Are major developers simply not as good as people (exclude the fanboys) believe or do we, the gamers, simply hype very new major release way too much and set our expectations way too high? Looking back, are there really any games that truly live up to the near-perfect standards that gamers set? I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say the last one that did was Zelda CDi. AWWWW YEEEEEEAAAAAH

I can't say that any game lived up to the hype, solely because the internet always likes to over-hype things. I don't generally prefer using the term "hype." I, myself would be found using "expectation" more so than hype because it generally is more rational. Though some can argue that hype and expectation(s) are practically the same thing, I find that setting a reasonable expectation is something that hype can hardly come up to.
