What games have actually lived up to the hype?

It seems like every time a AAA title is announced, massive levels of hype come with it, and that of course leads to a lot of excitement for the game. Then a month after release, it becomes the newest addition to everyone's "worst games of all time" list or is just ignored. It makes me wonder: Are major developers simply not as good as people (exclude the fanboys) believe or do we, the gamers, simply hype very new major release way too much and set our expectations way too high? Looking back, are there really any games that truly live up to the near-perfect standards that gamers set? I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say the last one that did was Zelda CDi. AWWWW YEEEEEEAAAAAH

I'll agree with Nasty. Blops 2 is a really great/fun game with much to do, especially in campaign (which had a really nice addition with challenges/strike force/choices). Multi player isn't the most balanced thing, but it's still great fun. Too bad the game will die once AW comes out.
