You feel the weight of your arms in front of you as they cradle your dependent in your hand; as your dependent cradles your shoulder too. Your best hand tightens slowly and your eyes jerk as your body reels back in a sudden spur of motion. Your nerves are settled but your heart is not. Again. Your heart beats faster. Again.
