Has humanity transcended normal organismic success?

The definition of the success of an organism includes that is survive and that it reproduce. This is known through survival of the fittest and natural selection. However, humanity seems to have surpassed that. We have been so successful that women are opting not to have children in exchange for a career or a future other than being a housewife or caretaker. This is not necessarily the main reason we have diverged from the norm, but in all actuality, have we? Have we transcended the norm for organisms? Are we still what we were, and therefore still are? Talk to me flūd.
