Is talk about ethnic violence more "graphic" than talk about random violence?

It's common knowledge that movies with ethnic violence scenes are often rated higher than movies with random violence scenes even when the random violence scenes are more explicit. This seems to suggest that people consider ethnic violence more "graphic" than random violence Do you agree with this? Or do you think it's ridiculous to deem ethnic violence somehow a more sensitive topic than random violence just because homophobes are uncomfortable explaining to their children that not all sex is done in the missionary position with the lights out for the sole purpose of procreation?
