Breakthrough in science

*Pat's self on back* Well done me. [Picture of Adriana is irrelevant, I have a reputation of making sexy threads so I should live up to it] Well I'd like to provide some discussion, so recently they have made an excellent breakthrough in editing DNA so scientists could essentially edit someones DNA and cure them of a disease.
Scientists have used the genome-editing technology to cure adult laboratory mice of an inherited liver disease by correcting a single “letter” of the genetic alphabet which had been mutated in a vital gene involved in liver metabolism. A similar mutation in the same gene causes the equivalent inherited liver disease in humans – and the successful repair of the genetic defect in laboratory mice raises hopes that the first clinical trials on patients could begin within a few years, scientists said.
Great breakthrough for science and mankind.

 • Yes. Finally. The first step to eradicating genetic defects. Finally. We're finally on the first stepping stone to a better future. It'll either end with the eradication of birth defects or a zombie apocalypse. Either way, it will be awesome...
