Were you ever shot, blown up, or had your life threatened in any way. No? Then shut the -blam!- up. You do NOT have PTSD. You are nothing more than a wannabe Tumblr activist with a victim complex. People like this are what make me despise the internet sometimes.

  • Nope. Try again. You don't have to be hurt in a war zone to have it.

  • Sure, I don't deny that. But the idea that someone could get PTSD from being heckled by a few trolls on Twitter seems ridiculous to me.

Diminishing persistent and serious harassment to 'being heckled by a few trolls on Twitter' is really not helpful. Online harassment has driven a lot of people to mental illness, and even, in some truly unfortunate cases, to suicide. That's a thing that happens all the time, and while it's easy for us to write it off when we've never experienced what they're talking about, we have to realise that our experiences aren't the same as everybody else's. If something about somebody else's claim to be mentally ill seems ridiculous to you, then you should ask yourself if that's because of your expertise when it comes to that condition or if it's just an association you've picked up somewhere. Unless you've experienced what they're talking about or studied it rigorously, chances are that they're going to know a lot more about it than the rest of us.

  • No one is calling mental illness ridiculous, if you think internet drama (That's not harassment which you used incorrectly) causes mental illnesses then you are the naive one here. Block buttons and power buttons exist. IF your mind is so weak to where you can't handle words from strangers you better learn to deal with it or become a hermit in your home.

  • You are not correct. I am a veteran. My wife has PTSD from our son being born 2 months premature. He was in the hospital for 2 months after birth. All PTSD means is you experience a traumatic event and your mind cannot handle it. I am not saying this women has PTSD, just saying PTSD comes from many different things.

Sure, I understand that. But I simply don't see how you can compare something truly traumatic, like being a soldier during wartime, or in the case of your wife, having a child born prematurely, to being bullied on twitter. It seems rather insulting to people who actually suffer from PTSD imo.

  • I agree. Thought some individuals are just that weak minded, if twitter stalkers caused her to have PTSD this shows her faculties were already compromised.
