It's still not good enough. Better then nothing, but it's still not fit for a first world country. Any country that wants to claim it's a developed nation should have universal healthcare.

I agree with you Max. Universal is frankly the only way we can assure our citizens get the care we need. We act like an undeveloped nation sometimes.

Edited by Seggi: 4/17/2014 3:42:44 AMI agree that I think it's fairly pitiful as a health insurance system, but it's also made a fair number of improvements, and it's about as much as is politically feasible. Even if the Democrats had a wide majority in both houses of congress, you'd struggle to get a massive overhaul in the direction of a single payer system past a lot of Democrats in vulnerable seats, and probably a number of safe ones.

Edited by Entraps: 4/17/2014 5:16:51 AMHow long do you think it will take the US to get its head out of its ass and implement a real universal healthcare system?

The only reason why I would say that it's so weak, was because it had to appease both sides. Now, it appeases one side, while the other side spends a godly amount of time and money trying to repeal the ACA. How many times has it been? I lost count at 42.

In the USA anything that is universal or benefits everyone else is bad. And the people in this thread are pretty much making it evident and concrete that the average American is out for themselves only. America and its citizens may have developed technology that makes it a first world country, but the mentality of the average American isn't as developed as other first world countries.
