Gentlemen! I'm trying something new! Perhaps not art, but it requires the patience of doing it, and I notice the Flood is bone dry of any animators, so I'd figured I'd give it a shot. So here it is. My first ever piece of stop motion. A grunt getting fisted. Yep. Lost some frames near the end though.

Looks good. My only complaint would be that the punch looks unnatural. I think it would look like he possessed more technique if it came straight, not around. His left hand being at his side is a bit jarring too

  • Like I said, I lost a lot of frames to derp. It looked much smoother before the loss of things in the middle and end.

  • Hahah nice! That's so sick that you're doin this bro! I love to draw, and I've actually tried a lil stop motion animation myself and I know the patience that it requires so I commend you on this my bruthuh!

  • That is an entirely different challenge in itself. Probably even more time consuming that stop motion with all the resources available to you. The meticulous nature of it and the sheer amount of patience required is immense. Even this was tricky to pull off. I took about 30 frames for this bit. Lost about half of them from derp. And created this short little clunky image. But if the end product turns out okay, then it's worth it. What's really hard is, doing full body animations. The more movement and motion a body is going through, the more frames will be required, as well as having to keep track of every available area of the body and which way it is moving. For this, I kept it simple. Capture the motion of the arm, the twist of the body, and the knockback. I can't imagine how complicated it becomes when you add an entire body moving.

  • I'm well aware of what is required for drawn animations. I've already got patience down pat, now I have to get good at drawing in itself. The amount of frames required for a smooth animation I'd say is the same for videos and games, so 30-60 frames per second minimum.
