The West angry about Ukraine, but no care for Syria?

I do not understand how so much anger can be made over Putin annexing what is rightfully his by democratic process, when millions suffer and tens of thousands of humans perish in Syria. The lives of 100 European protestors carry more weight than over 100,000 civilians harmed in the Syria crisis?
Over the past three years, more than 100,000 Syrians have lost their lives in the escalating conflict between forces loyal to President Bashar al-Assad and those opposed to his rule. The bloody internal conflict has destroyed whole neighbourhoods and forced more than nine million people from their homes.
http://www.bbc.com/news/world-middle-east-26116868 Putin had the right idea, support the winning side and end the bloody conflict as fast as possible, but then the West stepped in and prolonged conflict. How can you do these things?

There are so many wrong things in your post but let me just ask: Since when did living in oppression become a better alternative to fighting for what you believe in? Half of me assumes you're American for the dumbed down post but the other half of me assumes you're not... for obvious reasons. P.S. Ukraine wasn't annexed democratically, Putin wasn't even elected democratically, but truth be told, I really don't care what happens to Ukraine.
