As some may be aware, last year I completed a swimathon to raise money for Endometriosis research. Thanks in large part to the tremendous support of this community, over £550 was raised for the cause.
I have not planned any charity events this year, but I would greatly appreciate it if you took a few moments to vote (via Facebook) for the World Endometriosis Research Foundation (WERF) at http://www.SistersGive.com. The winning charity will receive $10,000.
At the moment it looks likely that a cancer charity will win. Unlike cancer, Endometriosis research is not fuelled by billions each year, or supported by thousands of organisations. It is far easier to raise money for cancer due to much higher awareness and the associated fear-factor, but if I say "Endometriosis" most people will look blankly.
Endometriosis is a largely ignored epidemic which effects as many as 1 in 10 women during their prime years of life. It can cause infertility and, in more severe cases, debilitation, or death.
For lesser known conditions like Endometriosis, $10,000 is a hugely significant sum and will go a long way towards increasing awareness.
Please vote as often as you can (I believe that you can vote daily*).
Thank you #SeventhColumn!

My girlfriend has fought endo for the past few years. Three surgeries later and thankfully she's at least has it to a manageable level. Thanks for the link, OP. Will vote and share.

Update Now in 2nd (just!): 1. National Ovarian Cancer Coalition (NOCC) ---- 91 VOTES 2. World Endometriosis Research Foundation (WERF) ---- 79 VOTES 3. Facing Our Risk of Cancer Empowered (FORCE) ---- 76 VOTES 4. SHARE Cancer Support ---- 27 VOTES Cancer is the go-to good cause for most people; it is encouraging that we have broken the monopoly. When broken down, ovarian cancer is very rare, impacting 1 in 58 women - the majority of which are over 60 - but the greater awareness and fear factor of cancer is so far edging out a condition that impacts 1 in 10 women during their prime years of life. We're doing very well so far. Please keep voting so we can hit the top spot!

Hey Tom you may want to edit the title with (New Kitchen 8). I bet that will help get more votes.
