At least it's only $50 and no points on your license.
If you really want to get out of it, go to court and tell them to prove it was you driving.

Bull fucking shit it is. When I got a redlight ticket, it was 360 dollars and I had to go to traffic school or face points on my license. I could have fought it on the grounds of, "I can't face my accuser" but I didn't. Should have, but didn't. Now California closed that little loophole. No longer a valid excuse.

The judge will say that it doesn't matter if it was me driving or not. The fact that it's my car makes me responsible. If I make the excuse that it was a friend or something, he'll just tell me to get the money from my friend then. Although I could go and just try to make up a BS excuse. Last year my dad got a ticket for speeding so he went to court and made up a story about being late for an important doctors appointment and the judge actually reduced the ticket to half.
