My best guess would be that there is a connection problem between the laptop and your router. With Win8.1 you may need to reconfigure your router. Have you ever had any problems connecting to the internet with your older computers? How far away are you trying to access the internet from your router? If you absolutely need the internet I would suggest plugging in a Ethernet cable directly to your router until you can resolve the wireless issue.

  • This is my first problem with a wireless device. The laptop is closer then my Xbox and it connects without any problems.

How old is your router? It might not be companionable with WIn8.1. Also try Dell Networking and Wireless Support Center for more information that might help.

  • The router is compatible with Windows 8.1. The drivers are also the same ones that Dell recommends... Other then that, I don't really know what to do.
