I got thinking, remembered a few questions I never asked, my ideas of it, and thought maybe you all might like to share your 2 cents too.
Q1: Can we name our weapons ourselves?
Initially my thoughts goes to whether profanity and all that may be an issue, but I believe that if you chose to sell or trade a gun, it would only have that name to yourself, and to others it would have it's normal/special name. It would be a cool thing (I think), and would bring about those awesome moments when you go to a shop and miraculously find your old gun, and it would show that custom name to you, so you know that was it.
Maybe it would be like this: "The Terroriser (Thunderlord, Exotic Machine Gun)"?
Q2: Will we have statistics about our weapons?
I originally thought about how you may use your favourite gun all the time, then wonder; How many Fallen/Cabal/Vex/Hive/Multiplayer opponents have I killed with this gun?
Maybe it may keep a tally of statistics (saved to your local console probably), among other things. Not a necessity, but a neat extra thing...
Q3: Challenges? Rewards?
By that, I mean things like getting a reward for killing... say, 500 Fallen Captains or whatever. Maybe you'll return to the city, and the people there will whisper among themselves like 'hey, that's the guy who did X' and public recognition would rise as you progress. As to whether it's a bunch of glimmer, or a weapon/armour reward, exp, unsure. Something extra, that is big enough to be something awesome, yet small enough that it doesn't force or necessarily promote the need to grind to reach them.
What do you think?

I like them all especially number 3. Borderlands has a similar challenge system but the rewards for completing them are kinda lame. It'd be nice if in destiny it unlocked special skins/gestures/items.

I like Q2. I want to keep track of what I've killed with my trusty hand cannon
