That seriously looks boring. How do these people stand playing a game that looks like barely anything is happening... or even moving?

Most of the time it isn't like this. This is just one of the few times that the game has massive TiDi so that people can still play the game without everything breaking, normally everything moves smooth as butter. It's honestly impressive that they can handle this many people in a single spot all duking it out.

Impressive, yes, but I think it'd be far more entertaining to watch and play if stuff wasn't moving at 3 fps and lower. What's the point of massive battles if everything's moving at a snails pace?

You can still have battles that have a few hundred people in that running at normal speed, it's just that those typically don't get any coverage because they can be kind of common in these giant alliance wars. When you have these battles that reach in the thousands for players it's a "shit hit the fan" kind of situation and thus everyone flocks to see them.
