I don't understand the 47%? What if you're both 17 and the condom split, raise a baby with no money and education?

>Implying Adoption doesn't exist. Abortions should not be illegal, but rather highly discouraged.
>Implying Adoption doesn't exist.
Tell that to the, what, millions and millions of other kids waiting to be adopted globally.

Edited by Gatsby: 1/22/2014 10:40:44 PMIt's hard to understand because we're not women but only a small amount of will actually go through a pregnancy only to give their baby away. You form a loving bond with the baby inside you, you carry it for 9 months and suffer to push it out only then to give it away. It's not easy, quite a lot of women that choose to give their baby up for adoption change their mind after birth.
-
The adoption process is costly and slow. Also, the pregnant mother still has to go through the pregnancy, which isn't a walk in the park.
-
Having an abortion isn't a walk in the park either. My mom had one, she regrets her decision deeply. She had to walk down a hallway of protesters yelling at her, calling her a slut. The baby had several diseases and would've died weeks after birth. Anyway if my mom knew it would be like that, she would've had the baby. Adoption is the way to go.

Stupid protestors made it hard. Oh and if the baby was going to die weeks after birth where's the logic in keeping it?
-
My mom had one, she regrets her decision deeply. She had to walk down a hallway of protesters yelling at her, calling her a slut.
So it's the assholes that made it hard, not the abortion itself.
The baby had several diseases and would've died weeks after birth.
So why go through all that pain and dealing with being pregnant for those months just to have a baby that's going to die shortly after? I can see if it was health, but when it has several diseases it might has well be aborted.
-
You [or your mom] seem to be including the protesters in part of the abortion process. That's not normal, and nobody should be treated that way for making such a decision.
The baby had several diseases and would've died weeks after birth
She would have rather gone through the 9 months of pregnancy, hormone craziness, sickness, pain of birth, and overall cost, just to have the baby die a few weeks later?
-
We are Catholics and we're strongly against abortion. It's not like she just forgot about what she did, she remembers it often. You always here about kids with diseases that accomplish goals that doctors never believed could happen. Maybe the baby could have lived passed those weeks..
-
But it remains an option, does it not?
-
Condoms aren't failsafe. You're still assuming the risk by using them and should be prepared to deal with the consequences.
-
And abortions should be available should they fail.
-
Disagree.
-
Honestly, legal abortions are much safer than the alternative.
-
Than having the baby and putting it up for adoption?
-
No, he means coathanger abortions, drinking poison, etc.
-
Which I obviously don't support, but often the reason teens get abortions is the acceptable stigma surrounding it. If it was illegal and their only options were to have the baby or drink drano, they're usually going to have the baby.
-
...which they shouldn't be forced to do. Keeping abortion legal and accessible is important. Don't like abortion? Don't have one.
-
It's easy to say that, yet most people who do would be against aborting a visible fetus, which is inconsistent. Also, they would be thankful that they weren't aborted, which is also inconsistent. Scientifically we cannot know for sure where along the process the life begins, however we do know the moment the wheels are set in motion, and the potential life is born. This raises some existential questions but it essentially boils down to not having a definite answer and therefore giving the benefit of the doubt.

LOL ironic edit

Edited by Gatsby: 1/22/2014 10:36:32 PMA simple mistake? I noticed it quickly and corrected it.

An ironic one. Regardless, lording your opinion over someone else's with the use of ad hominems doesn't help your cause.
-
Hmm technically my opinion but its borderline fact.
