Not true. AT least in CA. The father can terminate his parental rights and get off the hook.

That depends. My wife is in the family system. From what she sees, if it was consensual sex that led to an accident, he may get a disapproving frown, but the judges don't have time for more. If he was boyfriend that wanted a kid and then bailed, then he may hear an earful.
