Holy shit; Google acquires Boston Dynamics

So in the past, Google's done some cool stuff like working on autonomous cars; specifically, they've worked on the programming; it's not like they built the cars to sell themselves, etc. But now... they've just acquired Boston Dynamics which is famous in the robotics and military world, for creating arguably the most advanced robots in the world. Their work in the past and at the moment has revolved around projects for the US Defence Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), which is the agency that develops the things of dreams and nightmares alike. Here are some videos of their robots: An early prototype of their search & rescue / future combat robot, ATLAS, autonomously guiding itself through an obstacle course. An overview / intro to their prototype / semi-finalised version of ATLAS. Adding a manipulator claw to one of their robots. So basically, Google has now acquired the world's greatest roboticists. Why? Maybe they intend on going after government programs for robots? Maybe they intend on bringing proper robots to the masses? Maybe Google is actually run by Skynet? Either way, if you care at least a little about technology, and you haven't heard of these guys, I highly encourage you to look them up and investigate what they've accomplished in the past.
