So I'm getting an Xbox One and would like to get one good game for it that could occupy me for a decent amount of time.
I've heard Black Flag is a great game and it looks pretty stunning. People who have played it, would you recommend?
Also, I haven't played any previous assassin creed games, do you think that would be an issue? I'm sure I could pick up the controls fine but I'm worried about the story.
Thanks!

Edited by Atomic Tea: 12/13/2013 4:39:51 AMI would highly recommend Black Flag. They took the good shit from AC III, ship combat and other ship mechanics, and made it so much better. And the sea shanties....BY GOD THE SEA SHANTIES!! <3

BF4 is very fun with 64 players, but unfortunately the game is a little broken as of now. I'll let you know when it gets fixed up if you're interested in buying it.

Story is fantastic, graphics are great. Best assassins creed to come out since AC 2

don't worry about the backstory from previous games in the franchise. you'll do just fine without background, and you'll enjoy it if you do. the game is fun. full of moments that fill you with awesome. like that time when you finish being a badass on some Caribbean isle, climb back on to your pirate ship and take the wheel and the crew of pirates (that you personally saved from the gallows) raises a cheer that lifts your soul. and then you spin the wheel of your sloop, take her out to the open sea, save a list sailor (to join your crew) and ponder whether that 3 master on the horizon is worth the taking... I play on PS4, & the game is a blast.

Holy crap Hoobla you're alive! Also, I've heard almost 100% positive reviews about Black Flag. I'm actually going to try to get into the series soon, so I've been keeping tabs.

Edited by The Great DanTej: 12/13/2013 12:36:03 AMDo you like pirates? If yes, the set sail and play this game if no, the kill yourself

Edited by HurtfulTurkey: 12/13/2013 12:12:55 AMYou don't need to know a thing about the past story. The game barely even had assassins in it. 90% is just straight-up pirating. The modern-day stuff might throw you off a bit but the extra stuff you can find by hacking is just backstory that might shed some light on it for you. AC4 is fantastic and a great place to start the series. The protagonist actually shows growth and isn't some disgustingly noble hero like Connor or Ezio.

Edited by Scarecrow: 12/12/2013 11:49:40 PMI don't like the protagonist, or the story, but it's worth buying just for the gameplay.

Story's garbage but the game is still fun as hell

Yeah Black Flag is really fun and you don't really have to play any previous AC games to understand it. And WHERE have you been for the past 7 months?

Edited by A Cheese Potato: 12/12/2013 9:38:04 AMYou're in luck that AC4 is probably the easiest game for a newcomer to the series to pick up, in terms of story.

Edited by Braydzz: 12/12/2013 9:20:13 AMI don't think you need to know about previous AC games to play this one considering it is starting with a new character in present time and a new setting. I cant think of anything that is majorly recursive from the previous games besides the fact that Edward Kenway is Connor's grandpa but that obviously can't matter because AC3 happened 3 generations after Black Flag.. Anyways I think you are fine and im hooked on it I only played a few missions and got all the collectibles in 2 major cities and im at 23 hours and the map is pretty huge.

If you are interested in the story yes you need to play the older games or just watch the walkthroughs for them.
