Since it is the exact same steps that I would have to go through in order to place a ban? No. Now, if another member considers the mute/hide/report process (all three clicks) to be too time consuming and doesn't want to go through that effort, and yet still expects "someone else to clean up this crap"? Welcome to my world.
Now, if another member considers the mute/hide/report process (all three clicks) to be too time consuming and doesn't want to go through that effort,
But that's just it, it isn't just 3 clicks in a lot of cases, and few rather than more actually care enough to do anything about it. There are individuals/alts who continually post improper images and necro bump threads. In the case of the porn blasts, I feel it is imperative to report every single post he makes with such things in it to trigger the forum autobot. I may be mistaken in my idea that this helps, but I feel it is important enough to make sure the system wakes up to that name getting a high number of reports to get something done. Why? I'm old and I don't believe that the young people today WILL report it because they're too busy giggling about it and don't want to report it. Muting that alt will never suffice as making sure they are dealt with. In the case of the necro thread bumping the entire library of threads from a specific user just to be a dumbass; -Muting the bored dumbass necro bumper alt does NOTHING to clean up the forum page of year old bumped threads -Hiding all 20-50 threads puts the autobot in charge in a low alert status of the wrong guy, for you have to hide the OP's thread, not the bored dumbass necro bumper alt -Hiding the 20-40 threads takes a lot more than 3 clicks. You have to sort through many posts to find them i na lot of cases for they are not always the 'last' post. I'm not asking you or any of the other mods to be the janitor here. I'm hoping the webteam to be a little more expedient in making revisions to make this place better. I'm sure they know the holes in the system are there. At least I am hoping they do, and I am hoping they care enough about the same things to plug the holes. I don't know if they do or not. I would and have proposed that there be some form of aspect of the report system that gives more credence to 'trusted' members, to make their reports have a lot more weight in the system. In that I mean the people who have long, clean records of not going a foul of the rules / warnings / bans. Give them the ear to listen to what and why they are reporting things, and make the system act more readily to those reports. Also, put necro thread bumping in as a report item. I don't know if any report names have more weight in the system now, but it seems as though some should have more value put on them to be acted on in a shorter time span. And yes, I know you have no ability to make any of this happen. I'm just venting. I'm tired of the forums being trashed at the whim of bored adolescents or older individuals who should know better.

I'm tired of the forums being trashed at the whim of bored adolescents or older individuals who should know better.
Very good suggestions. The reason that I say that is that I too have made a case for each of them (in private conversations). The Web-Team noted those ideas, are taking them under advisement and what I picture (in my imagination) is that they are either listed on a white-board or in some project-management tool and are each being evaluated for how they could be done/implemented, the value that they would provide, the time/effort/man-hours it would take, and all of the other real-world considerations of managing and creating revisions to the software on a live system. At least that's what I envision. Hell, those suggestions could have been written on bar napkins, signed in triplicate, sent in, sent back, queried, lost, found, subjected to public inquiry, lost again, and finally buried in soft peat for three months and recycled as firelighters. Which sounds frighteningly familiar.
