The legal system and most people's basic definition of being an Adult.

Those two aren't usually mutually inclusive as evidenced by several other replies in this thread. A specific age is not "most people's basic definition of being an Adult"
-
Well, I take "most people" as most people I know, not people on a forum that possibly live in countries with different laws.

If you're living in the U.S, then a majority of Bnet is riding the same boat as you. Using only the people you know as an indicator for things is a silly way to think that most people agree with you. That's kind of the problem with racists, sexists and inbreds, not that your situation is as drastic though. I'm not trying to be preachy but you should look at this as an opportunity to open your mind a bit by considering some of the differing opinions on here. What several of the people in this thread are trying to say that just because the law says so doesn't necessarily mean you're an adult if you don't have the maturity and responsibilities to act like one.
If you're living in the U.S,
I'm not, I'm Australian.
Using only the people you know as an indicator for things is a silly way to think that most people agree with you.
Not most people in the world, but still most people here (if not everyone I know outside of the internet). I'd say most people living in countries without restrictions on 18 year olds would consider them adults.
What several of the people in this thread are trying to say that just because the law says so doesn't necessarily mean you're an adult if you don't have the maturity and responsibilities to act like one.
I understand that and said it the second time it was brought up. Yeah, people of any age can be immature and people of any age can be mature, yadda yadda yadda. I said that I'm mature (immature on the internet of course) and that regardless, it wouldn't change the base definition of being an adult. I guess I should have said "the base definition of being an adult here, because I'm not from (insert country)."
