To see love as emotions, which change in the blink of an eye.
Love should be thought of as the ability to lay down your life for someone. In that case this is how anyone should love someone they care about.
If you can't do that then you don't really love them.

What I've gathered so far is that we are supposed to be chaste. We are supposed to love each other on a deeper level than on just strictly a physical side. I'm sure you're thinking "ha! Lol chastity. What a fail. So old school"
I've just felt like there's got to be more to love than having sex or getting physical with someone.
Anyway to answer your question, everyone needs to love someone or you can't grow as a person. I don't see why this would be different between gay people or straight people. This just depends on what you believe love is.
