  • I'm looking forward to that. Just it seems such a waste to me with such really interesting designs being unable to be really use them in some sort of flight mode.

  • I agree but disagree because even in science fiction you can't steer a ship while in a warp and that's how you travel from place to place in destiny. From what I've seen of the ship moving anyways. But I look forward to everything in destiny besides space flight. I mean even the reach.mission in space I didn't like its not something needed in and fps ya know?

  • I wouldn't limit the suggestions for differing experiences due to FPS and staying to a stringent line of thought on what can and cannot be added. The forum has easily lost its early day of imaginative speculation as it is. Breaking out of the mold is what sets games apart from each other. Simply saying it shouldn't be there when Bungie placed in this image of space flight and a ship of note worthy design is disingenuous to the spirit of what was presented in the GDC. Not many FPS give you a ship to fight with or explore with. To pass on it seems lazy and uninspired in a landscape filled with such

  • I do see and understand but what I have said is only personal opinion I just don't feel the need for it. Not saying that it couldn't be well placed and used because honestly I would love to freaking fly in an inter planet area searching for ships lost to space and what not.

  • In all your "woe is me and everyone else who wanted manual flight" talk did you ever consider that maybe they were focusing more on the core aspects of gameplay and making sure the game is developed to become this 10 year series they claim it will be? Instead of adding thrown in features to appease a portion of the population? I doubt at this point in development they could add space flight and actually make it worth your while. So, as I have said on so so so many of these threads. Accept it as fact, realize the game isn't going to be broken because you can't fly your ship, and (like myself) hope that they implement it, and do it right, in Destiny 2.

  • Sounds really boring. You noticed when Bungie showed up at the GDC they opened with ships flying around. Well hey Bungie next time just open with push a button and you're there. Saves everyone the issues later on.

Or simply make a case for space flight or some sort of use for our ships other than being a hood ornament on a menu screen before the game launches. Besides don't you know how to converse without going to the extremes of no return? I made a similar case for going prone. They didn't include it but slide is a great compromise. Saying no flight, no this, no that, sorta just leads to boring shit.

  • Also, the reason I went to the point of "no return" is because you basically came off as saying the core game is going to be "boring shit." This tells me that not having control over your ship was a game breaker for you and maybe you would be happier not buying the product. So be careful how you word things if you want to come back and saying what you just said.

Did you even read the opening post? Or did you just let your inner councilor highlight the points you wanted to get upset over? Speaking about adding a flight mechanic for ships toted as being our horses while strutting concept art depicting these designs in flight from the developer is not some horrible trolling of Bungie because they now simply condensed their ships to just being a BART system to the stars. But whatever, like prone I have no control of the matter other than just taking up a few hours on a Novemeber night while something like Slide might be in the works for space ships. Simply the lack of manul flight just seems soulless when compared to the GDC presentation of our ships, especially if all you can do is say this is all I want is a wall mount over something far more tangible as a gaming experience.

  • I like how you are completely skipping over anything of substance I had to say and spouting the same stuff you said in your original post and ask me if I even read your post. Would you like to actually have a discussion about this or are you going to bitch and moan because someone doesn't agree with your point of view?

  • Allright you don't agree. But here you are bitching and moaning because I posted a subject that isn't about recruiting for a clan and what system you're going to pick. -blam!- me for putting up something more substantive on space flight.

  • Making a case is fine. Like I said in my original response, I would like to have some control of my ship as well. Something optional like SWTOR's space battles. However, I would rather Bungie get the core of the game done and well polished then have them add all these features and minigames. My argument is essentially for quality over quantity. And at this point in development, I personally don't see them being able to invest the time needed to give us a quality experience with flight while still making the release window Activision is pushing for. Which is why I said, wait for Destiny 2.

But then you'll be saying the same thing come Destiny 2. Or someone else will be ready to pass the awesome buck over for mediocrity of we don't need it. Well that's really disappointing especially when Bungie had painted a better picture of what could have been and instead chose a rather dull sounding use of our ships. But look I don't know I haven't seen the result but the loss of manual control is like watching another nail get driven into the coffin surrounding the GDC presentation.

  • Doubtful. Because in Destiny 2, the core has already been established. They are, or at least should, be building upon Destiny, much like we see in MMOs with expansions (not saying Destiny is an MMO, just making a comparison.) Why shouldn't we expect some new features and off core experiences as the game gets older? It will bring in new players and keep older players around for new experiences. They way I'm thinking is this: use Destiny 1 to establish what the game is meant to be at its core and only Bungie truly knows what that is. Then, in later titles/dlc implement new features such as space missions and LFG functions etc.

  • So you're saying that it was because of your desire to have prone that Bungie compromised with you and put in slide?
