Batman: Arkham City/Origins Impressions.

Since some people are not bright enough to know the difference between IMPRESSIONS, and a REVIEW. Let me state what it is. This in only IMPRESSIONS. So right off the bat lets say this. The new Batman game is essentially just more Arkham City... That is NOT a bad thing AT ALL! With a new team at the helm, and the time between games, can you really expect a massive amount of changes? It would probably take much longer to change gameplay, and all that stuff. So whats that saying? If it aint broke, don't fix it! That has been the philosophy here with this games design, it is more of the same and that is good. Telling "another" origin story, this game starts off after Batman has been on the job for merely two years. With this, you will see many old faces for the "first time" like The Joker, Bane, and Enigma. With it taking place so far back in time, and the old cast retired. Many characters have gotten new voices. Like Troy Baker now being Joker instead of Luke Skywalker. Each one sounds younger, which is fitting. It is not like the new Sam Fisher voice were he is supposed to be older, but sounds like he is in his 30s. So far the writing is fantastic! And i will stop there. Sorry. The open world essentially looks like Arkham City before it became a prison... Well, it really is Arkham City. And the combat is still fantastic, adding new difficulty to the formula and a different kind of boss fight. They present a challenge for every new skill that you learn. They are there for you to master when you face these big guys. Gotta rap this up, class is starting. Just know that Arkham Origins is a great entry into this series that you cannot miss! More of the same, is not always a bad thing.

  • I like it. The game takes awhile to really gear up though. But once it does it is good. There are a few things I don't like. One is the fact that there are nearly as many grapple point on buildings as there were in Arkham City when you are gliding. I can be gliding along and start pressing the grapple button and nothing happens. I end up landing on a building and all of a sudden there are a bunch of grapple points available. It's rather annoying. Then the fighting system is the as tight as it was in Arkham City. You have to buffer some of the knockout combos (Y+RT being the biggest one). And the overall fighting systems seems to have reverted back to Arkham Asylum's fighting system. Where enemies can jump half the distance of the fighting area to connect a punch and you don't even see it coming. And then there is that detective mode. The part where you rewind the scene. To be honest, it is way more annoying than useful. But outside of that. I am enjoying it. Like I said I wasn't digging on the story at first. But then once the plot twist happens I really got into it. As for the new Batman and Joker voice actors it's 50/50. I don't like the guy they got for Batman. I've heard better alternatives in the cartoons. But that new Joker. He does a fine job. There are even times he REALLY channels Mark Hamill. Over all I give the game a good 7 out of 10.
