I think some religions can be compatible. For example, Christianity does not use the scientific method of observation (and experimentation, replication etc) because its knowledge is revealed from God, not observed from the universe, so it has no use of the scientific method (in fact, you [i]cannot[/i] use the scientific method to know God). Since God is unobservable from our vantage point and is not a regular, natural phenomena, it's ludicrous to expect any usefulness from the scientific method.
