As I recall, Bungie explicitly stated at games com that space combat and ship customisation would be heavily featured.
" When discussing spaceships in Destiny, Joe Staten explained that because Jason Jones was a higher-level player, he had access to better gear, including an impressive sleek, black spaceship that makes Staten’s smaller, simpler vessel look like, in his own joking words, a “Space Corolla"."
Ships also come in classes - only the 'scout' class has been named as yet.

Edited by FairlySplendid: 10/26/2013 9:56:16 PMI'm 99% sure you are pulling quotes from different places and have got your facts mixed up. For example, that quote is from back at the beginning of the year. However, yes, we can customize the look of our spaceships. It has since been confirmed. - At E3 Chris Butcher confirmed that space combat will not be a focus in Destiny. - Space combat was not discussed at Gamescom. I read and watched just about every interview that came out of that convention. - Why U Lying?

Edited by Agwang: 10/27/2013 3:11:17 PMDick head I read it off IGN he's telling the truth.

One more time? This time make sense.

Why don't you try reading.

Edited by FairlySplendid: 10/27/2013 3:19:57 PMWell, aren't you grumpy this morning... If you're talking about IGN's wiki, I don't recommend trusting it. It's not up-to-date or 100% accurate. As I said: - Ships are customizable. But the quote he pulled it REALLY old and not from Gamescom - There is no focus on space combat. Chris Butcher clarified at E3. It was not discussed at Gamescom. I watched/read over a dozen interviews from the event.

Read it they worked on this 6 years but when they confirm something it's a final decision.

Edited by FairlySplendid: 10/27/2013 3:36:48 PMYou do realize that the article you are referencing in from February 2013? At that point 90% of Destiny was still concept art, postcards, narrative outlines (lore) from the writing team and a pre-pre-alpha build that has since been retired. When Bungie says they have been working on Destiny since (and before) Reach, they are including the years they spent on world-building (concept art, themes, tone, palette, backstory) and developing the new technology/software needed to create the game. Since that article A LOT has changed.

Look people would not give a -blam!- about there ship if they can't use it... Why would they allow us higher level ships just for cut scenes that would piss us off..

Edited by FairlySplendid: 10/27/2013 3:54:16 PMYou're asking a question that both you and I don't have an answer to. We have no point of reference or hands-on perspective. All I'm telling you is the words came out of Chris Butcher's mouth at E3. Which were that Bungie enjoyed space combat in Reach, but the focus of Destiny in on being a FPS. Not a space combat simulator. As to what the greater implication of that is.... IDK. There are a lot of people running around with very strong opinions as to what type of game Bungie should or shouldn't build. In the end, its Bungie's game and their vision. They are the ones calling the shots.

Edited by Agwang: 10/27/2013 4:01:50 PMBungie said that correct we don't need a game with intense details on space combat. So they don't have to focus on it . We just want to drive it . That's nothing that takes alot of focus. Implementation for that is nothing compared to what they have already implemented. So I believe that option will be there but I guess we will just have to wait.

I like how you spent so much time arguing for this point only to be officially proven wrong a day or two later. It made me smile. Also, well done to USplendid for once again just sticking with facts and confirmed knowns.

Actually, that was off the wiki. If that's incorrect, I apologise. By the way, I was talking about the panel. Was it pax? The hour long one?
-
Oh ok. Here you go: Bungie GDC Panel 2013.
-
That's the one. Thanks.
-
Oh, and I can't check the source for the scout thing, but I'm fairly spur that that is correct.
