If you wanted a Generation three Remake, IGN wants one too.

Just read through this article inspired by the things that Pokemon X and Y did well. Thoughts? I typed this awhile ago, but it's my explanation on why they won't remake them in my opinion.
I got what you meant, but it's still impossible, the reason why is because of what defines a remake. Say we remake a game from 1990 again, give it a whole new engine, graphics game-play, but it's still that beloved 1990 classic. It gets remade in 2008, and it's nearly a whole new game. It then comes out, a new generation of people enjoy it and maybe Veterans as well, and it's done. The game has been remade once and there is no point to doing it again. A remake is only a remake if it's done once and expands on the original. Remaking a remake is, for lack of a better description at this time for me, near pointless. You wouldn't spend thousands upon thousands upon a game or movie, remake it, then do it again in another ten years. The point of the remake was to leave a good taste in the audience's mouth that it is now perfect and untouchable. If they remake Gen 3 in this case, then what's to stop them from remaking Gens 4 and 5, possibly even 6 down the road? You do a remake if the first iteration failed, you shouldn't do a remake every few years just because you feel like it, that won't make money. And that's why you do it right the first or second time and finish. I don't think Gen 3 was a failure, I remember it because Ruby and Sapphire came out as I was in Elementary school exactly on my birthday, they were fun to me. But remaking again and again will not sell, and they hit that limit after the 2nd Gen when technology became great enough for them to do what they needed to. It isn't outdated or bad enough to warrant a remake, and if you want to play it again you can, and that's my thoughts on it.
• I would be so happy if they remade Ruby/Sapphire and Emerald. Emerald was hands down my favorite game

    • What's wrong with the old generation 3 games? I've been playing through Emerald again and it's as enjoyable as ever.

      • As much as I love Gen 3 and I would love a remake, I would much rather see another game set in Hoenn. New gyms, etc.

        • Yeah, remake Gen. 3. I would love that. I always have this argument with my mates, though. Instead of making new regions... Why not make new stories in regions we've already been too? Expand on Team Rocket in Sinnoh, or team Magma/Aqua in Kanto. Obviously, every new game should include at least 50 new species of Pokémon (not including evolutions), but I think that's what they should do.

That article was a little too critical of my favourite pokemon game o.e If he wasn't rooting for a remake I might have had to... Send him mean letters! :o

They should remake Ruby/Sapphire then stop at that. They should also do a game that features every region and every pokemon, but that's a different matter. If they do remake it they should definately expand the secret base mechanic. One of the best things in it imo.

            • No more remakes. Make another new game.

            • I want one with every region and you can choose which one you start in, venture to others, and properly "catch 'em all". There could be competitions or requirements to get legendaries and certain global events for things like them.

              • Pokemon sequels are a texture swap away from being remakes anyway.

                • Remaking games is pretty much the only thing Nintendo has going for it, seeing as they can't come up with anything else.

                • Why remake the games? Honestly, remaking them would be stupid other than nostalgia. Pokemon games are very similar, and each new one adds a few new things to previous games. Remaking an old game in the new engine or in the style of X and Y would be a money grab and that's it. There would be less pokemon, less to do, it would be nostalgia based completely. I'd much prefer a new game with more ideas than a remake with the same ideas.

                  • I dont know what gamefreak will do, considering they went with tradition up until gen V. since gen 3, the games have always consisted of the traditional pattern of New gen, solitary version, remake. Ruby and Saphire, Emerald, Red and Green Remakes. Diamond and Pearl, Platinum, Gold and Silver Remakes. when 5th gen hit, I was expecting a grey version, but I was proven wrong. I was also expecting R/S remakes, but I was wrong on that too, so who knows? maybe we'll get X2 and Y2 instead of a Z and no remake at all. we might get a pokemon snap re-imagining compatible with the oculus rift. nothing is set in stone until the dev sets it themselves
