harassment (either harris-meant or huh-rass-meant) n. the act of systematic and/or continued unwanted and annoying actions of one party or a group, including threats and demands. The purposes may vary, including racial prejudice, personal malice, an attempt to force someone to quit a job or grant sexual favors, apply illegal pressure to collect a bill, or merely gain sadistic pleasure from making someone fearful or anxious. Such activities may be the basis for a lawsuit if due to discrimination based on race or sex, a violation on the statutory limitations on collection agencies, involve revenge by an ex-spouse, or be shown to be a form of blackmail ("I'll stop bothering you, if you'll go to bed with me"). The victim may file a petition for a "stay away" (restraining) order, intended to prevent contact by the offensive party. A systematic pattern of harassment by an employee against another worker may subject the employer to a lawsuit for failure to protect the worker.
Oh but you're right they are the same thing.

Yes, doing that is ill-mannered. It is rude to harass someone. People do this all the time online. It is nothing new. When are you going to understand this?
-
It's not Rude. It's past rude. Being rude wont get you banned. Harassing someone will get you banned. You just aren't understanding this.
-
It's still rude, and either way it's nothing new. People do it all the time.
-
It's past the point of being rude man
-
either way it's nothing new. People do it all the time.
-
Which is why I made this thread.
-
You're not helping anyone.
You're making the situation look a lot worse than it really is btw.
-
But the situation is already bad and seeing how this thread is already in the Blue people agree with what Im saying
-
forgot to add not

Edited by Danny8849: 10/21/2013 10:54:32 PMThose are people who already don't do that to girls online. You are not convincing anyone from doing that people act like that, and tbh I never saw some guy "harass" a girl online before.
-
Yeah just because you never seen someone harass a girl doesn't mean that it doesn't happen
-
It means it's a lot less common then you act like it is.
-
No it means that some guys are freaks who just like harassing girls
-
So me not noticing any guys harassing any girl online.... ever means that some guys are freaks who just like harassing girls. It's not as much as a problem that you think.
-
Dude it's a problem. The fact that you are trying to downplay it means that you're not willing to accept the problem.
-
You're overhyping the problem. Most people don't even wear mics so there is no way of telling if someone is a girl. Also if a girl is being bothered then she can mute or report the guy. Also before you say it, no you are not helping anyone but saying "no don't do it".

1. Alot of people rock mics. 2. It's a big problem in the gaming community and if you don't believe me ask a chick who player WoW. 3. You shouldn't have to mute people to begin with for saying offensive things. That's like someone calling me a -blam!- online. People shouldn't be calling me that to begin with. 4. Clearly people are liking the thread because there are 400+ comments. Just because you don't agree with me doesn't mean everyone feels the same way you do.
-
1. No they don't. 2. The girls can just block the guys who mute them. Problem solved. 3. Too bad. You can't stop them. The most you can do is mute and report people. 4. Those are people who agree that people shouldn't do it, I agree too I'm just telling you that you're not helping stop the problem.
-
Wow if Martin Luther King had your attitude then the south would still be segregated. You're acting that nothing can be changed which is EXTREMELY closed minded. You're "to bad it happens" attitude. People text and drive and kill people. Do you say to bad it happens or do you do something about it. Women have been harassed and -blam!- in the Military, do we just accept it because you can't stop it. What you are failing to understand is that you're wrong here. There is no shame in that, just admit that you're wrong so we can move on.
-
There is a big difference between a real problem, and an easy to solve problem. The way to solve it is by muting or reporting the people who do it. That's it. The examples that you listed were actually real problems because they really hurt people, but the thing that you are talking is nothing new. People Harass eachother on the internet, the best you can do is block/report the person and move on. Also,
SniperInTheSnow22h 57m ago Permalink I'm a girl and it's rarely a problem. If it ever get's to be one though I just jump lobbies.

CamCamm19h 31m ago Permalink Yawn.
Cam is a girl btw. Anyway those are 2 girls that don't think it's that big of a deal. So yea, you're wrong.

What Am I going to you. Sorry but there is no way you can be this stupid.
Well said, sir. I don't call myself as "girl gamer" the slut who biting the controller. I am just a female gamer. For many reasons, Boy/Male gamers need to be respectful, shut their talkholes and enjoy the game. Voila~!

While you're intentions are just, posts like this will encourage assbaggery. Not deter it. Take bacon breath down there for example

PatStarr93 19h 41m ago Permalink I have one of these friends and he likes to say she can get the magic stick which is awkward for everyone

My wife gets 3 messages every night we play halo 4...and I delete them :) muahahaha!

I think this post is a good thing because whenever I play halo I see creepers creeping they say real dumb ass things! I Think all guys should be respectful like I am.
I mean these post make up most of the thread, but you hang onto the few comment from people who don't agree. Muting doesn't solve the problem and reporting takes time to see action. Clearly you never heard of cyber bullying before. People have killed themselves because people who they don't know were harassing them. You don't know how people will react to being harassed and to say that you do is retarded. You are wrong here. Admit it and move on. Oh and Songbird and Viola are girls as well.
-
I don't feel sorry for people who kill themselves over that, when they can easily block the person, and no I didn't read through all of your comments I just scrolled through a few of them. Muting does solve it.
-
I'm done with you. You're clearly an asshole. Muting doesn't stop the harasser for harassing.
-
It's stops the harasser from bothering the person. Lastly, think about this, what I was saying this whole time is that what you are doing won't stop anyone from harassing girls, people who do that just want attention, if the girl just mutes him he won't get the attention that he wanted. Someone who would threat other people that way wouldn't have the sense to listen to you. It's logic not being an asshole.
-
And then the Harasser just goes and harasses another girl. How do I just want attention for commenting on a legit problem. I'm sorry that you are to much of a moron to understand that but it is what it is. You're not using any logic here. You're not fixing the problem, you're just putting a band aid on it. You're ignoring it because you think that once the harasser is nutted then he just stops harassing. You're wrong there. Why would the harasser stop, he would just move on to the next girl and then the next girl. It doesn't stop unless you stop it at the source. Now this is logic. This is how you think about a problem and fix it. What you are saying doesn't fix the problem, but only addresses the problem. If you are to slow to understand that then that's you.
